Rodrigue's Choice

Stephen Rodrigues sat behind his table thinking about his life, how he became a millionaire at the age of 32 without any kind of support from others, how he brought his father's company back from bankruptcy and how he is now at the top of the business world. He had everything in his life; money, a family, a beautiful girlfriend, a penthouse with marvelous view and many more things but still, he was feeling incomplete.

After a long exhausting week Stephen finally had a day to himself but his precious time was spoiled by loud sounds happening just outside his door.

"What's happening here?" Stephen asked opening his door.

"Oh, I'm really sorry for disturbing you. I can't find my keys among this thing." Said the handsome man nodding towards the bags he was holding.

"No, it's alright. Let me help you." Stephen took the bags from the handsome man's hand.

Stephen's hand slightly touched the man's hand and he felt an electric spark but chose to ignore it.

"I'm Stephen by the way."

"Kevin McClain."

"When did you move in?"

"Last week." Kevin said smiling.

Stephen thought how he could have ignored this deviously handsome man's existence who was living just beside his home.

"How come I never saw you before?" Stephen asked

"Have you been home lately, Mr. Rodrigue?" Kevin asked jokingly.

"I have."

"No, you haven't. I had came twice to meet you but you were never home." Said Kevin.

"Why don't you join me for the lunch Stephen?"  Kevin asked after moving his stuffs inside.

"Not this time I have some work pending, maybe later and it was really nice to meet you Kevin." They shook hands.

The moment their hand touched Stephen felt that same electric shock again and this time it seemed like Kevin felt it too. Kevin gave a small smile but Stephen was gone within seconds.

Days went by and those weird feelings stayed with Stephen. He had few encounters with Kevin, he felt butterflies in his stomach each time they met. He didn't know what was happening, he was confused about his new strange behavior. All this new happening was messing up Stephen's perfect life and his attraction for Kevin was increasing day by day.

Stephen never thought he was Gay, he never in his life have ever felt attracted to Men but this time with Kevin it was different.

"Are you Mad at me? Did I do something wrong? What's happening Stephen?" Scarlet; Stephen's Girlfriend asked him one day.

"Nothing's wrong Scar. I'm not mad at you and you didn't do anything wrong." Stephen said without looking at her.

"Then why have you been ignoring me? You even cancelled our date to your favorite Country singer's concert. What's wrong Stephen? Talk to me." Scarlet said teary eyed.

Stephen and Scarlet met during their college days and they had been in relationship for 10 years, Stephen was even ready to propose her for wedding on their date to Carrie Underwood's concert but because of his weird attraction towards Kevin, Stephen backed out at the last moment.

Stephen felt guilty for lying to Scarlet but he can't help it. He was scared. He didn't know what to do anymore, he was a mess.

"I'm sorry Scarlet, I'm just having bad days. I'm sorry for worrying you. I promise to take you on a date soon, honey." Stephen kissed Scarlet but he didn't feel anything like he used to before.
