Ranbir burrowed his face in her fragrant hair and inhaled the lemony perfume that was quickly becoming his favourite perfume along with the discreet jasmine perfume she wore.

Prachi had never felt safer before. She felt a very strong sense of security in his embrace. Soon, both the trepidation and the feeling of security were washed away by a newer and stronger emotion. As he burrowed his head deeper into the thick, dark mass of her hair, his warm breath on her nape began to play havoc with her senses.

An emotion way stronger than him was urging Ranbir to follow its diktat and her proximity was undermining his defences. He was so close to her. If he would just burrow a little deeper his lips would touch her nape. The urge to kiss it was growing stronger within him by the second.

Prachi, too, wasn't untouched by the intensity of unnamed emotions. The scorching intensity of his emotions was reaching out to her too.

Ranbir would have given in to the ceaseless urge had a loud metallic clang not brought them back to reality and caused Prachi to immediately pull away.

Ranbir beamed as he witnessed the lovely blush that crept up onto her face, colouring the beautiful features with an endearing scarlet hue.

Prachi was very embarrassed and awkward and it hindered her ability to behave normally with him or to even meet his eyes for that matter.

Ranbir smiled at her endearing embarrassment and decided to lighten the ambience and help her return to her normal self.

Ranbir's chuckle drew her attention towards him and she cast a fleeting glance at his handsome features.

"Why are you laughing?" Prachi still did not quite meet his eyes.

"One moment you declared that you are afraid of nothing and the very next moment you went ahead and proved yourself wrong?" Ranbir guffawed.

Prachi's mouth fell open in disbelief. He was such an insufferable idiot.

"I wasn't afraid or anything. It was just that that loud noise out of the blue startled me." Prachi immediately went on the defensive mode.

Ranbir grinned as he could clearly see that his tactic worked and he had successfully distracted her.

"Oh no Prachi. You were not startled. You were scared.SCARED." Ranbir decided to tease her some more.

"No, I was not." Prachi refuted obstinately.

"Yes, you were." Ranbir was having so much fun riling her up.

"No" Prachi refused to give in.

"Yes" Ranbir too wasn't ready to give up.

"No" Prachi was adamant.

"No?" Ranbir changed tack to catch her off guard.

"Yes." Prachi fall right into the trap.

"See. That was what I was saying. You argue unnecessarily,Prachi." Ranbir's sober expression melted into joyful laughter seeing her furious disbelief.

However, soon even the amusement turned into a grimace of pain as Prachi pinched him on the arm, hard.

"Ow! Prachi!" Ranbir flinched.

Prachi made a funny face at him and trotted off towards the window to examine the source of the noise they had heard earlier. Ranbir stood messaging his arm with a stupid grin for a while, and then sauntered off after her.

The metallic clang they had heard was caused by the holder of a lamp that had toppled over the edge of a shelf. Though the holder did not sustain much damage except a slight dent, the glass body had shattered into numerous pieces.
