Chapter 2- *wow*

A/n sorry this is a bit late I didn't realise the time oops

Jade's POV
"...How are you? How's everything been?"

I had to use every bit of strength I had to fight the urge to grab the beautiful half-Latina, pull her close and kiss her. No I couldn't do that, she was still my friend. If I lost that too, I'm not sure I could live with myself.
"I- it's been... intense, I guess. I missed you... guys"
chiz I almost said I'd missed her. She can't know. She can never know.
"a lot of stuff has happened" I mumbled

She raised one eyebrow slightly, in a suspicious gesture, but her eyes were soft and I could see that she wouldn't force anything out of me.

"okay, well how about we go get our things and then we can catch up over dinner? I'll make it." she offered.

She was making me dinner?! Could she get any more adorable?
Calm down Jade you're just friends. She's being nice that's all.
"sure that would be great." I replied with a smile, "meet you back here in two hours?"

Her face relaxed and she smiled back
"yep. See ya then"

Back at the hotel, 6.30 pm
I stepped out of the hotel shower for the last time, grabbed the towel and wrapped it around myself, my long black hair dripped onto the floor. I quickly dried it off with a towel with the intention of curling it when I had an outfit.
Shit I only had 40 minutes to get ready!
I walked over to my bed where I had laid out all my potential outfits and studied them carefully. God I needed to stop overthinking this it wasn't even a date!!
Was it? No it couldn't be. Tori didn't think of me that way, she was just being nice. A good friend.
I realised that I was still standing there wearing just a towel and I should probably get dressed and ready to go.
I threw on my dark blue jeans and one of my nicer tops. A black, lace trimmed top with thin sleeves and a low neckline. It wasn't too dressy but it at least looked like I'd made an effort.
I then quickly dried and curled my hair, put on a bit of makeup, nothing excessive just a little blush and something to draw attention to my eyes.
When I was done, I finished packing and checked out of the hotel.

I was almost shaking as I walked to the door, grabbing the key out of my bag and attempting to turn it in the lock. I eventually got my hand steady enough to open the door and walked up the stairs.
When I opened the door into our 2 bedroom flat, I couldn't hold in the gasp as my eyes fell on Tori. She was wearing the most stunning  purple dress which was casual but drew attention to her amazing figure. She had light make-up on which drew attention to her gorgeous caramel eyes and highlighted her already prominent cheekbones.
"Jade? Are you alright?"
Oh god my jaw must've dropped a little.
I felt my face flush with embarrassment, and had to take a deep breath for my voice to sound normal.
"yeah I'm ok. You look amazing "
I mentally face palmed. Did I have to say that out loud?
She smiled bashfully and a light pink lit up her cheekbones.
God she looked adorable when she blushed.

"Thanks babe, you don't look too bad yourself" she retorted coyly.

Was she... flirting with me?
No. There was no way. She meant it in a friendly way I'm sure.

"so... are you coming in or? Maybe just shut the door so the cold doesn't get in"

I realised I was still standing there staring, so I walked in, blushing again.

"Sorry Vega I was busy being overwhelmed by how messy you've already made the place" I remarked with a slight scowl, glancing at the cluttered lounge/dining room and the kitchen full of cooking ingredients.

"Aw don't be mad Jadey, we can clear it up after dinner. Speaking of dinner... come sit."

I walked over to the table to see that it was set with a white table cloth, napkins and steak knives with candles and delicate wine glasses.

"Wow Vega, you really know how to set the scene." I said, astonished.

"Don't get your hopes up, I may be able to set a table, but I'm not a top class chef"

"yet" I replied with a grin, remembering all the times that I had witnessed Tori's cooking back in High School.
"I just hope that you checked the ingredients properly this time" I smirked, referring to the pizza disaster.

"HEY! That was your fault not mine!" she pouted.
However she couldn't hold it long and soon we were both laughing our asses off.

"mmm... that was so good!" I licked my lips in appreciation.
Tori had made the most delicious steak with a side of grilled asparagus and roast potatoes. It was cooked perfectly and the Cabernet Merlot really completed the meal.
I sat across the table from my favourite Latina and looked into those beautiful eyes and my heart melted. It was like the old days but better. Now we lived together. And I wasn't mean, horrible Jade who only opened up to the right people, well, Tori. I was a young, but independent adult now. I was safe, away from my parents' abuse, and I was going to spend every day with someone who meant the world to me.
In that moment I didn't care if she felt the same way. Being with her was enough.

"Hey Jadey" Tori interrupted my thoughts "wanna help me clean up and then watch a movie?"

How could I say no to that face? God I was whipped.

"Sure. But only 'cause I want to"

I also wasn't going to show her that I'd do anything for her. I wasn't that vulnerable yet.
I playfully ruffled the tan girl's hair and grabbed the plates, bringing them to the dishwasher.

Soon enough we were sat down, choosing the movie when Tori turned to face me, her liquid brown eyes full of empathy and said softly "Jade? What's gone down since I last saw you? What happened with your parents? Did they still hurt you?"
