Jade's Pov
"Jade? What's gone down since I last saw you? What happened with your parents? Did they still hurt you?"

I turned my face away from her to hide the tears in my eyes. Thinking about my family was painful, yes, but the fact that she remembered? The fact that she even cared. That was too much for even Jade West to bottle up.
I felt a weight around my shoulders and turned to meet a pair of soft caramel eyes. Tori had wrapped her arm around my shoulders and was looking at me, her brow furrowed with concern and her eyes scanning my face.
I repressed the shiver that her touch brought on and sighed.

"I- well... Uh..." I stuttered finding it difficult to say the right words. "My mom and dad got a divorce because mom was cheating on dad with her boss. Then she married the guy and it got so, so much worse. I went to live with my dad for a while but his new girlfriend had it in for me and all she did was find ways to get rid of me. so I went back to my mom's but all that did was land me in hospital. So I had to get away. Danny stayed with dad, his girlfriend liked him for whatever reason, and mom and Gary had a daughter, and now they hate me more than ever. So I had to come here. I got offered a job as a writer for a small TV show that I'm collaborating on with a few other people and I took it straight away. I figured New York was big enough and far enough from LA that I wouldn't have to worry about them finding me" I blurted out, the tears finally spilling out of my eyes.

"Oh Jadey..." Tori whispered, her own eyes glistening with tears. "You should've told me, or Cat or someone that this was happening. I would've taken you to stay with me. And I'm sure MSA would've had a place for you. I mean you're talented and an asset to pretty much anywhere."

"I couldn't do that to you" I almost sobbed
"You were all so happy and enjoying college. How could I possibly burden you with my family problems. I had to deal with them myself"

"Jade! Don't ever say that again!" The tan girl exclaimed, holding my shoulders at arm's length and looking deep into my ice-blue eyes, her own caramel ones soft and concerned. "You're not a burden. You never have been and you never will be. Promise me you'll come to me if anything else happens"

God I loved that girl. She was adorable when she was sincere.

"Fine, yeah, whatever"

She gave me a stern look, and held out her pinky.

"What's this?" I asked.

"Promise me" she replied.

"Fine" I linked my own pinky through hers and smiled a little through my tears. "I promise"
She smiled at me before taking her hand away. She sat back on the sofa and picked up the TV remote.
"So. What shall we watch? Just, please. Not too scary."

Although the idea of scaring Tori so she'd come close to me, seeking comfort in her fear was appealing, I decided to pick something different.
"The Notebook" I said confidently.
She looked at me in genuine surprise
"The Notebook?" she asked "Are you sure? I really didn't think you were the type-"

"I'm sure" I cut her off. "besides, I know you like it."

Her face lit up
"You remembered"

"I sure did" I smiled back.

Still Jade's POV (shocking right?)

I woke up and groaned a little. I must've fallen asleep during the movie. I was dimly aware of a weight on my chest and as my eyelids fluttered open I saw a pretty latina lying on me with her arms wrapped around my waist. I realised that my arms were also around her.
This is how it should be. I thought to myself.
I immediately shook that thought off. No. This was completely platonic. I was pretty sure Tori was straight, and even if she wasn't. Why would she want me? That girl could get anyone simply by looking at them. There was no way she'd ever even consider me. Although, no one could blame me if I just stayed here and enjoyed the moment, right?
-------------------------------------------------------
All too soon, the tan girl's eyelids opened, revealing those pretty caramel eyes of hers.

"Mmmm... Morning Jade" she groaned. "What time is it?"

"seven thirty" I informed her, glancing at the clock on the wall.

"too early." she stated snuggling into me further.
But it didn't mean anything. She liked boys. Friends did this kind of thing all the time. My heart sank thinking about it.
God I could stay like this all day. Breathing in her scent of strawberries and cinnamon and feeling the weight of her body against mine.
I gave in to the feeling and closed my eyes, just pretended for a minute that things were different.
-------------------------------------------------------
Still the same day, still at the house, still Jade's POV
"Jadey?"

"Yes Vega?"

I raised an eyebrow inquisitively, wondering what the pretty brunette might want.

"Pancakes or waffles?"

Awww she was making me food? I really can't with this girl. I rolled my eyes at myself and walked out of my room to answer her. She looked stunning with her hair still damp from the shower and was wearing denim shorts and a pretty floral top with short sleeves. My eyes ran over her figure for a moment, but not long enough to be noticeable, before I looked up to meet her eyes, her pretty smile matching my own.

"pancakes" I stated happily

"oh good those are my favourite!" The brunette stated gleefully.
My smile broadened a little. Her happiness was contagious.
-------------------------------------------------------
After breakfast
"So, what work are you doing that brings you down here? We've talked a lot about me, I want to hear about your life now."

"Well, after high school I went to Manhattan School of Arts as you know and then I came here and auditioned for a part in the new Broadway musical. It's called Haileys, its about this girl called Felicity and how she makes friends with these three popular girls all called Hailey. I've been cast as Felicity which is pretty cool."
The tan girl smiled bashfully, clearly not wanting to sound like she was boasting, but also obviously excited.
I grinned and hugged her

"ARE YOU KIDDING?! THAT'S AMAZING!!!!"
I practically squealed in excitement for her.

"I better get a good seat on opening night or else I'll cry" I laughed
She looked at me delighted

"I'll make sure you get the best seat in the theatre"
