"Is he dead?" Monet, one of the younger siblings, asked Mimi as she tried to smack Jin awake. Every time she would smack him, Jin would take a sharp intake of breath and his chest would heave heavily. She checked his pulse, and noticed that he was alive.
"Not yet, Monnie, why?" She kindly asked him.
"Mom wants to feed him to the pigs already. She says he's wasting too much space in the tent and he is also scaring away Bleu Belle's children" He answered honestly to her, starting to play with her hair.
"And your ok with this?" she asked her little brother, setting him down on her lap.
"I don't know. Shouldn't everyone be given a chance to prove themselves regardless of who they are?" He plainly answered her, pulling Jin's hair and braiding little flowers on the black strands of hair. Mimi raised an eyebrow at the child's wisdom, but decided not to say anything.
"What do you want to call the stranger?" Mimi asked the little one.
"His name should be Choncho" He replied without hesitation. Mimi nodded her head in approval at the name, not questioning the strange choice.
Meanwhile, Jin lay unconscious, hearing voices but not being able to distinguish what they were saying. Mimi and Monet left, and someone else entered the room. Since Jin was still completely out of it, he didn't know it was the mother. Calliope del Valle was a fearsome woman, and as soon as she heard about Elysium's horrible attitude she had beaten her eldest daughter and made sure that she was left without anything to eat for the rest of the day. She was sweeping around the room with a thick broom, when she spotted Jin. For some reason, he could feel her eyes staring at him.
"He still hasn't woken up yet? He's leaving my tent a mess, mendigo. It's time for him to clean" She muttered to herself, taking off her chancla. Since she was at the other end of the tent, she had to angle it just right, so not only would it hit him but it would also return to her hand. That was Calliope's hidden talent that she only used on the little ones whenever they annoyed her. She was only fifty two, and she was already getting tired of everyone even breathing next to her. Calliope had gained some weight throughout the years and her pale alabaster skin had dulled to a creamy white. She no longer held a certain brilliance in her black eyes that had made all the men fall for her back in the days, and her hair was greasy and matted almost always. Yet she still continued living, because mother's never take a break even if they do deserve it. She closed one eye and aimed slowly at Jin's forehead, she drew in a deep breath and threw la chancla like a boomerang. As soon as the chancla hit his forehead, he screamed himself awake. Mimi and Monet reentered practically running in, with Jose Luis hanging on to Mimi's back.
"Did he wake up?" Monet asked out loud, and as soon as he said that, fourteen kids popped out of nowhere and we're staring as Jin kept on screaming.
"Make him sToP! He's so annoying!" Artemis, a few years younger than Monet, screamed, covering her ears with her hands.
"How about you be quiet?" Her twin, Apollo shot back at her.
Chartreuse and Victor pushes passed them to get a closer look. Calliope told Mimi to come and translate, and Mimi actually tried having a conversation with him but he kept on screaming.
"BE QUIET YOU OVERGROWN BABY!" She suddenly screamed, her voice overpowering his. Calliope stuck her nose in the air and watched as her adoptive daughter made Choncho shut up.
She heard some fights between her children continuing behind her.
Calliope gave one look to all of her children, and they automatically stopped bickering.
