Chapter 1~3E 343 (A hundred years later)~
The Grass Plains swayed in gently in the wind, like an ocean wave lazy rolling by. The summer sun shined down upon the land of Avalonia and the puffy clouds dotted the perfect blue sky.
To the north was the Back Ridge Mountains, a rather long mountain range with its arms stretching out towers the east and west. To the east was the tallest mountains know as the Nether Mountains which had its peeks always snowed-capped and chilly. The west was the ruins of Menhura, once a mighty and strong kingdom built over a silver mine and had once exported the worlds finest silk over the Blood Sea and Illacat Ocean, to the lands of Isalia and Sal Highlands.
It had once divided Avalonia into to countries but when the Dragon War reached it peek, the kingdom fell into ruin at the claws of Éragore. As fierce and deadly as dragons came, Éragore was the mightiest of all. Born of darkness and lightning, Éragore had this ill-hatred for man and wished for their destruction.
But it was Malachath, Éragore’s sibling born of light and fire, that came to stop Éragore’s destruction. But the city was still lost and both dragons disappeared. Only a very small handful of people managed to escape and passed this story down from generation to generation.
Even now after a hundred years, Maya could see what was left of the ruins about a mile or two across The Grass Plains. She could imagine the grass being lit aflame, fire and lightning clashing together, people burning, guards firing arrows up at the sky as two black shadows swooped over head, buildings being destroyed, the very earth torn asunder.
The very thought if it thrilled her—not the part of people dying mind you, that made her sad—but the action of putting down an evil dragon and protecting a city made her dream of being a heroine. Oh, how she would love to explore the world and have adventures of her own, it was much better than being stuck at home.
She laid down upon the rock she was sitting on and her brown eyes saw a bird ride the air currents towards the Nether Mountains. In between the two peeks of the mountains were three man-made plateaus were Maya’s village, Nether Pine, resided. Rugged on the soul and harsh during the winter, the village was actually peaceful and tranquil; Maya couldn’t have thought of better place to live.
Though upon saying that, she hadn’t been anywhere else in Avalonia. The Grass Plains and Nether Pine were all she knew. As the only daughter of the chieftain, she wasn’t allowed to put herself in that kind of danger.
And she hated it.
With her shoulder-length brown hair sprawled underneath her, she tucked her arms underneath her head and closed her eyes, the warmth of the sun lulling her to sleep.
Something suddenly hit and bounced off her stomach. Upon opening her eyes, she heard laughter. She sat up and looked over her shoulder.
Two boys, both tall and older than her came walking towards her, laughing. One was Jonah, a boy with a thin waist but huge shoulders. His brown hair was never kept neat and his amber eyes were soft. The other was her brother, Oliver Olden.
Eighteen and ready to become the village’s next chief, Oliver was probably the best looking man in the village. A toned four-pack, tall and slender, light blond hair and dark blue eyes, and let’s not forget he had the face of an angel.
Maya’s face was like that too: small nose, smooth round cheeks, but she wasn’t the most skinniest person around. Her stomach was slightly chubby and she didn’t feel attractive because of it.
