"SHI--"

Killian managed to catch herself on the edge of the couch, looking down at her companion. Her brows furrowed, and she was quick to point an authoritative finger in his direction, "Bones, I swear to God. If you trip me one more time, I'm gonna' lock you in the bathroom."

The black tom cat leapt from the floor, landing on the arm of the sofa, his judgemental eyes meeting Kill's.

"Don't look at me like that." She replied, continuing to walk around her apartment in search of anything that needed to be cleaned or organized.

It was Thursday.

The Thursday.

She had taken the day off from both jobs just for the occasion. Austin was being released, and was hopefully on his way to her as they'd planned.

Looking about her small home, she could conclude that it was indeed as tidy as it could possibly be. Clothes were on hangers and no longer on the floor, her bed was made, windows were cleaned, countertops were cleared, and she had even scrubbed the bathroom by hand.

This was a big day for them both, and she wanted to seem like she had more of a grip on her life than she actually did.

The small blonde rushed to the other side of the apartment, looking in the full length mirror that leaned against the wall. She checked her hair, which was put up into a samurai style--at least that's what she called it-- and her makeup which was extremely light.

Her outfit of choice was a fitted black long sleeve shirt, tucked into a pair of tighter black and white plaid pants. She wore black socks, and a chain necklace or two around her neck.

She liked what she saw, and she hoped that maybe he would too.

Austin.

Her heart swelled at the thought of him. Kill's gaze shifted from her reflection and landed to the blue gift bag sitting on the island. It was small, but she couldn't pass by it when she's found it a week ago. The idea of the gift had come from a letter--

A knock on her door ripped her from her thoughts.

Killian stared it from a distance, absolutely frozen. Quickly, she fished through her pocket to find her phone and check the time.

It was four. It was definitely a drive from here to the state prison, so there was a good chance that the person at her door was who she hoped it was.

This was it.

Nine months later, and this was it.

Kill took a deep breath as she strode over to the door, her hand gripping the knob and turning it slowly.

Her heart almost stopped.

Standing in her doorway was a tall man. His eyes were a beautiful sky blue, perfectly accentuated by the ink beneath them that read 'Always Tired'. The stranger had brunette hair, which was pulled up into a bun. He had a beard and stache, which were just as curly.

"Austin?"

Oh how starstruck he was.

In the two seconds since that door had opened, Austin was in awe of the woman in front of him.

He managed to speak, doing his best to avoid a random voice break. "Killian?"

They stared at one another for a heartbeat. A single heartbeat.

Then, in one swift movement, Austin slid the duffle bag off of his shoulder, letting it hit the floor as his arms dove beneath her own. He felt her arms wrap around his neck, and suddenly they were tangled in one another.
