Chapter 4- Unveiling Secrets

"T-Taehyung?"

"Long time no see, Stephaine..."

Stephaine stared at Taehyung with widened eyes, hesitating to say something.

Taehyung tried to avoid as much eye contact as possible. He stared at the clear blue sky, putting his hands in his pockets and let out a sigh.

"I-I guess you guys already k-know each other.." Eunseo crookedly smiled.

"You can say that." Taehyung coughed.

The bell rang, echoing throughout the gardens. The three of them looked at each other with mixed expressions and didn't dare to utter a word.

Taehyung pulled his hands out from his pocket and walked towards Stephaine.
He reached out to her shoulder and gently patted it.

"Until next time." He subtly smiled then turned to face Eunseo who wore a confused expression.

"Oi- Sleepyhead!"

Eunseo blinked couple of times before slightly raising her eyebrows.

"Aren't you going to show me the way to my next class? I can't afford being late on my first day." He made an effort to smile.

Stephaine looked at Eunseo then back at Taehyung.

"Y-Yeah okay.." Eunseo glanced over at Stephaine who was giving her a look she couldn't exactly pinpoint.

There was so many questions Eunseo wanted to ask.

"How do you know her?"
"Why are you guys acting so awkward?"
"Are you guys a thing?"
"Are you related to her? Siblings? Cousins? In-laws?"
"DO YOU HAVE FEELINGS FOR HER?"
"WHEN DID YOU GUYS FIRST MEET?!"

Instead she silently observed the pebbles on the ground as puzzled as ever.

Everything seemed to be spinning in circles.

"You're probably thinking 'how do we know each other?'" Taehyung smiled.

Eunseo looked up and then back at the ground and bit her lip in embarrassment, her face flushing.

The latter chuckled, as he popped a lollipop into his mouth and offered her one. She kindly refused.
Lemon wasn't her favourite flavour.

"I have a free period. You?"

"Wait- then why do you need me to show you.. What?"
He smiled, "everyone tells a white lie here and there."
"I have Music." She sighed, gently jiggling her violin case.

Taehyung stood there rolling the lollipop stick from side to side, before grabbing her wrist and pulling her towards the school gates.

"Are you crazy?! What if we get caught!!" Eunseo struggled to get free but his grip only got tighter.

"It's only Music, I mean you won't die or anything from missing just one class." He smiled. "Don't be so stuck up man. Loosen up a little!"

She glared at him in disbelief. It was only his first day here and he was already getting her into trouble.
Skipping lessons and running away with your crush seemed like a drama scenario, she thought.

"One ice coffee and-" Taehyung gave Eunseo a slight nudge.
"Strawberry Frappé please."
"So- one ice coffee for the male and a Frappé for the lady."
Taehyung gave a short nod and a polite smile before the waitress took off.

"Isn't this place nice?" He yawned, ruffling his hair.

Eunseo scanned the cafe and slowly bobbed her head up and down. It wasn't bad if she ignored the occasional screeching of babies and the foul smell of cigarettes coming from the man on the next table.

"You better have a really good reason on why you dragged me out of school." Eunseo grunted, trying her best not to inhale too much of the cigarette smell.

Taehyung cleared his throat and licked his parched lips.
"I don't really have a good reason," he started off, tracing the edge of the table with his index finger. "I didn't want to spend a free period by myself. What am I supposed to do for three hours?"

Eunseo rolled her eyes. "Try studying genius."
Taehyung raised his finger and shook his head.
"No that'll be out of the question because, I am only staying for a couple of weeks."
"Well, I'm not and I really need to improve on my violin skills..." She glanced over at her violin case and then back at Taehyung.

"How long have you been playing?" The latter took a sip from his coffee.
Eunseo stirred her frappe with the straw, staring at the table, with knotted brows.
"It's been around... Two terms." She tried to make it sound as chill as possible, even though she was a little bit embarrassed on the inside.
"Only?"
Eunseo cleared her throat. "Is that a bad thing?"
He shook his head and slightly smiled.

Eunseo fiddled with the strap of her violin case as she took occasional sips from her drink. She tried to think of a way to make the conversation flow without having to make the two feel awkward.
She didn't know much about this 'Taehyung' guy and he did seem approachable. Not in a creepy way of course.

Was "How's school in Korea?" A good way to start?
How about; "Did you make friends yet?"

They all made her sound like a motherly figure and that was definitely not 'cool'.

"I bet you want to know about Stephanie and I." The latter didn't lift his head. Instead he wore a subtle smile and his eyes portrayed a message Eunseo couldn't really make out.

She wasn't in the least thinking about Stephanie and Taehyung, but now that he mentioned it- she was a little curious.

"I'm going to go straight to the point." He cleared his throat.
Eunseo couldn't help but feel nervous. She had no reason to be anyway, she tried her best to appear nonchalant, but the sweat forming on her palms wasn't helping.
"Stephanie was my very first crush."

Eunseo coughed. That was not the answer she was so desperately waiting on.
"Ever since we where young, we would play together by the gardens at my house, she had taught me many things like English and cooking." He rambled on, "But there was an incident that happened between the two of us and that was the end of our happy relationship."

Eunseo sat there as she heard his 'recap' of old memories. In a way she felt pitiful for him, on the other hand, she wanted to know more, but what if he thought of her as a bother?

"I didn't know that.." She stirred her drink, poker faced.
She glanced over at her phone and cleared her throat.
"Well, we have another hour before my next class starts, what do you want to do?"

Taehyung tapped the table with his fingers, humming a tune.
"I don't know much about you except your name..." He started, "tell me about yourself."
