Chapter 10

Nya's POV

Everything's blurry. When I finally come to, my eyes scan my surroundings. I was in my dorm. It seemed to be late in the evening, 5, maybe 6 o'clock?

"Hey, you're up!" I glance over to see Lloyd smiling regretfully at me. I sigh, "Yeah. I am." When it comes to grudges, I know how to keep them for a hella long time.

"Listen, I'm sorry-"

I cut him off, "Was there any need for you to shoot an energy ball at me just because I wouldn't tell you where I was going?" He stayed silent, and I kept going, "Was there any need for you to threaten Jay without properly getting to know him first?"

"I-It was just suspicion-"

Narrowing my eyes, I prop myself up on one elbow, "Was it? Or was it out of jealousy?" Lloyd looked stunned, "I have no idea what you're talking about."

"I think you do. You got jealous that Jay and I were getting close, so you tried to kiss me. Or...am I just letting the side effects of hypothermia take over?"

There was silence, until he quietly mumbled, "Yeah. I was jealous. I like you, okay? I like you, a lot, and you getting really close to Jay, it hurts, you know."

"Lloyd," My voice was more softer, "this isn't some cliché high-school movie, this is reality. And, yeah, it's gonna hurt, but it's life. The world sucks."

"I just want you to know I feel really bad about it. I'm an idiot. There could have been so many possible outcomes with you going missing. I could've gone after you, we could have talked it out, o-or your brother comes after me with an axe-"

I snorted. Lloyd chuckled lightly, "Please. Just....forgive me." I sit up, and head to the bathroom, before calling back to him, "I'll...I'll think about it."

Kai's POV

"...Yeah, Mom. We found her in the woods, but she's alright now, don't worry. She's sleeping." I miss out the part about her getting hypothermia since my parents are already worried enough, I don't need this topping their list.

"Okay, are you sure you don't need me or your Dad to come over?"

"Yeah, it's getting late, it'll be dark soon. We'll be fine, I promise."

"Alright, call me when she wakes up."

"Will do, Mom. Love you."

"I love you too, sweetheart."

Ending the call, I look over to see Skylor staring out through the window. Putting my phone down, I head over and wrap my arms around her waist, my head resting on her shoulders, "What are you thinking about?"

"Just...life. Wondering how Nya managed to sleepwalk from the library to the forest." 

I kiss her neck lightly, "She's Nya. She managed to do laundry and break the dishwasher in her sleep."

Skylor bursts out laughing. I pull away and start braiding her hair, "Remember how we first met?"

My girlfriend nods, "We nearly burnt each other alive."

I laugh, "Those were good times."

"Yeah, they were." She agreed. I think...maybe now's a good time. Maybe. But if I don't do it later, I won't have a chance, "Hey, Sky. How would you feel about...marriage?"

She turned around, "Really?"

"Yeah. It could be small, with just close family and friends, only if you want to, though." She thought for a second, before smiling, "I'd like that."

I sigh in relief, "Great, because I actually got you a little something. I got Nya and Zane to help make it..." I whip out a small box, and open it. Inside was a ring. An engagement ring, "I stole one of your rings for measurements, but...yeah. Do you like it?"

"I love it!" Reaching on her tiptoes, she pressed a kiss on my lips. I wrap my arms around her.

3rd Person POV

Morro knocked on the door, "Dad, you in here?"

Wu's voice could be heard, "Yes, come in." Pushing the door open, Morro entered the office, closing the door behind him. Wu had a grave look on his face, as he stared at a piece of paper, "I don't understand," he whispers, "my printer went crazy, just to print out one sheet, which I didn't even print. Oh, how I hate technology. I thought nothing of it...until I saw the contents. Son, do you remember Eleanor Ives?

The Master of Wind nodded, "Master of Animals. She left months ago, wanting to start her own life...or something along the lines of that, why?" Wu stared at the sheet, "Look at these names. Tell me...what is similar about them?"

Taking the sheet, Morro sat down, and peered at the names:

Morro's hands shook, "They're all Elemental Masters." he murmured. Wu nodded, "I have no idea what the bottom paragraph is. It appears to be code. The strikethroughs...."

"That must mean they're dead. What are the numbers?"

"I was concerned about that too, but do you remember the Gold Bank robbery?" Morro's eyes widened, "The biggest bank in the realms."

"How much was stolen from it?"

"Around...150 million..."

Wu nodded and gestured to the sheet, "Add all those numbers up." Morro scanned through the numbers, "32."

"If I'm correct, that 150 million is being used as a reward for the deaths on this list. 9 million has already been claimed. But we don't know who released these names online. I don't think people even know about our powers, I think they're doing it just for the money. Who do you think is behind this?"

"Maybe the Royal Family? But, at the same time, it can't be. Otherwise our school would have been blown up, or something along the lines of death. No, this is someone else. Someone more sinister. And if I'm correct, this isn't even half the list. So the code must be the rest. And to find out the rest..."

Wu finished his sentence, "We break the code."
