Chapter 4: Jason
I groaned as the lights flickered on. It wasn't even 6 am, for all I know. I got up and adjusted my eyes. Everyone was frustrated with the flow of electricity. In fact, I felt like I could smash those damned bulbs into pieces, but they would just install new ones in a few seconds.
Ugh.
I glanced at everyone in the room. All the boys were still there. Some were still half-asleep. I wondered how anyone could actually fall asleep in these circumstances.
I thought about it again.
A girl has died. A flood of relief flowed through me. I got to live at least another 24 hours. My eyes started watering. I tried to calm myself down.
Another 24 hours to live.
Another 24 hours to find the murderer.
Everyone crowded into the main room, where the large screen on the wall flickered to life.
"That was quite interesting." the familiar but dreaded voice of the Game Master filled the room. "As some of you may know, our dear contestant Maria has died."
"Aww, so sad." He continued sarcastically.
A girl screamed and another broke into tears.
"But we will continue with the game, but firstly we shall see the death." He grinned behind the hood of his, which only concealed his eyes.
The screen switched to a different scene. A bathroom.
The footage focused mainly on a girl, which I soon recognised as Maria, whose, plump body was easily recognised, despite the poor lighting.
It must have been in the middle of the night. At the corner it showed 2:34 in the morning. It was pretty creepy already, until a cloaked figure entered with something in his hand.
Fuck, this was going to get gory.
I winced. The figure got closer and closer until she screamed. It was too much to bear. Normally I was good at watching horror movies, including gory scenes, but the fact that you were constantly reminded that it was real and not an act was utterly horrifying.
There was a lot of commotion around me, but shock made me immobile as I was forced to watch every slice that the figure lashed out on the helpless Maria.
Blood was everywhere. Because it was a greyscale scene, I could see how her blood (which was represented by black) was splattered on the walls (which were a light grey).
Bloody he-
The screen suddenly turned back to the Game Master, before I could finish my thoughts.
"And here is the last scene of her death." he said.
The screen turned into a picture.
A long string of profanities managed to escape from my mouth.
A head was lying on the floor with a butcher's knife forcefully thrust into her mouth. Maria was unrecognisable. The rest of her body was brutally shoved into the toilet. I could see her rib cadge sticking out of her flesh. An eyeball was missing from the head and well... the other one was torn in half. The whole scene was smeared with a thick coating of blood.
A boy beside me vomited.
This would carry on for 15 more days, only if I was lucky to live that long. I closed my eyes and hoped that I could drift off to heaven right now, sparing from a brutal death.
This was hell on Earth. I was just an unfortunate angel who fell from heaven and landed in this living hell.
Life was a game here, and I was given a bunch of shitty cards to deal with.
My fantasising of going to heaven was rudely disturbed by the Game Maker's malicious voice.
"So now you have experienced what really happens in this game, we shall read her journal. Luckily for you, the murderer has decided to drop it so that you guys can see it." The Game maker concluded, "I shall leave it to you, my fellow contestants."
The screen turned black and the table did its own stupidly 'magical' thing again. A few moments later, a leather notebook spotted with blood came up with it.
Everyone advanced forward nervously to take the book. Lauren was the first however, gracefully picking it up with confidence and ease, She flicked to the first page and read:
"Hello. You will probably read this, as I am dead. Tell my mum that I love her."
Something about that melted my heart.
People around me were not in a good mental state. I guess I wasn't neither. A girl beside me was on the verge to hysteria.
Lauren closed the book in one deft move and strided back to the the girl's dorms as elegant as a cat.
Holy crap. That girl was really creepy. She acted like nothing in the world had happened.
I tried to get the disturbing images out of my mind, but they kept on flooding back in.
Don't expect me to fall asleep peacefully ever again.

Author's notes
Hi guys! Sorry for the long wait. I got too carried away with the summer vibes that I totally forgot to update! Ugh. I know.
I was at my friend's house chilling, I got bored and decided to update this attention-seeking Wattpad. Well... I can't say I'm chilling right now, I'm actually in the trampoline trying to hide myself (and my laptop!) from her little brother throwing a tantrum.
Happy summer holiday!
