===============================

You worked with La Squandra for a while now. The others described you as tough, loyal, the basic descriptions of what you'd expect. They were all very sweet guys, yeah, but none of them were really your type. Unbeknownst to the rest of your team, you had a hidden friendship with a man from another gang. Leone Abbacchio. In some ways, he reminded you of your own capo. White hair, edgy, barely anything to their tops. Big difference is, is that you're much more fond of Abbacchio than you were of Risotto.

It was fairly late at night as you got dressed, preparing to sneak out and see your friend again. This was a pretty common occurrence, you two would sneak out and see each other and hang out the entire night. As you got dressed, you began to think about Abbacchio. You really did appreciate his time and his loyalty to you, but you both knew that the gang always comes first. Recently, with Polpo's death, you could feel that something bad was coming.

With a sigh, you sprayed yourself with your (perfume/cologne), and began to make your way out of the base. Everyone was already asleep by now, except maybe Risotto, but he would be busy with paperwork. You carefully opened the door and exited the house; closing it gently behind you. The cool air of the night surrounded you, making you breathe out softly and fix your shirt a bit, blinking slowly as you looked up at the sky. Guess I should get going.

You began to go to your usual meeting spot, the pier down by the ocean. It was a simple place, but it meant a lot to you two. It's where you first met, and where you had your first fight. You beat his ass, of course. That's what made him like you, or, well, you assumed. As you approached your meeting spot, you already saw him sitting on the dock, with his legs hanging off the side. You cleared your throat a bit, to let him know it was you, before carefully setting yourself beside him.

     He didn't look at you. He just stared off at the ocean with an emotionless face, but you could tell that there's a storm raging behind his gradient eyes. You sighed a bit, looking forward as you mumbled, "So, Polpo finally bit the dust, huh?" Abbacchio just hummed in agreement. You didn't say anything after that, simply taking a drink of the wine sitting beside him and carefully setting it back down. After a bit, he finally spoke. "You know what's probably going to happen, right?" You breathed out a breath you didn't realize you were holding. He's talking about how the bosses daughter was put into their care.

    "Yeah, I know." You whispered back, tapping on your leg a bit and shaking your head. He didn't say anything back. You both knew that your loyalties lied with the your respective groups, there isn't much you can do. You furrowed your eyebrows a bit, gripping your pants with your nails, before speaking up, "Risotto is planning to take the bosses daughter, or at least try to." Abbacchio day head snapped over to face you, his eyes big with disbelief. "Boss ain't been treating us right. So, Risotto wanted to take things into his own hands."

     You couldn't tell if he was shocked that you admitted that to him, or about Risotto's plan to betray the boss. You met his gaze with a steady stare, your throat feeling tight as you maintained eye contact. You really didn't know what you were supposed to do at this point. You simply reached forward, carefully lacing your pinky with his, before breaking eye contact, staring away. "Whatever happens, if I run into your group or Risotto tries to get info out of me if he finds out about this-" You shook your head a bit, swallowing thickly, "I'll turn the other cheek." You tightened your pinky around his a bit, not willing to say anything else.

     Abbacchio was stiff, just staring at you in disbelief. Suddenly, he yanked his hand away and picked up the wine, standing up and taking a long swing from it, before standing up and stomping away. You breathed out shakily, taking a minute to gain your composure, before you jumped up, speed-walking after him. "Leone, wait." He didn't respond at all to you, nor you using his first name. He continued to walk, you following him until you entered an alleyway.

      After a bit of walking, Abbacchio threw the wine bottle at the wall, before whipping around on you. He gripped your shoulder and slammed you onto the wall, his forearm resting against the wall beside your head. Your hand found it's way to his wrist, and the other on his chest, pushing him back lightly. "Abbacchio-"

    "Shut it." He growled at you, his face close to yours as he stared deeply into your eyes. "Why?" He asked, shaking his head, "Why can't you just come with me? Join my group? Bruno would take you in-" "Leone.." you cut him off, your hand finding its way to his check as you rub it lightly. "We both know it's not that easy, i would be hunted down and dead within a week." Abbacchio gripped your shoulder tighter, "We could protect you! Goddammit, just work with me here!" He seemed to be getting desperate. You felt a harsh pang in your chest, making you sigh and glance away.

     Abbacchio began to tremble, his hand gripping you even tighter, sure to leave some kind of bruise. You felt his hand go to your chin, tipping your head to look at him. As soon as you made eye contact, Abbacchio slammed his lips onto yours, holding onto you tight. You froze, your eyes going big. Was this seriously happening? His lips felt rough, and his movements were jerky and desperate. You breathed out shakily, before bringing your hand onto his neck, pulling him closer and kissing him back with the same roughness.

     Abbacchio released your shoulder, his arm going around your waist as you pressed close to him. The kiss grew more smooth and passionate as time passed, you holding onto his neck and not allowing him to pull away as he held you just as tight. You tasted the wine on his lips. To think, your friendship really began with a bottle of wine. Now, you don't really know what to think about this situation.

     Slowly, Abbacchio pulled away, still holding you close. The pastel purple lipstick he wore was smeared, you presumed on your face too, and his eyes were loving, yet desperate. "I love you, (y/n)..." He whispered gruffly into your ear, making you shiver a bit, "Whatever happens, just don't forget about me, or what happened here.." He slowly pulled away from you, breaking eye contact, before walking down the alleyway once more. You swallowed back your words.

    You two made a promise, that whatever happened, the gang always came first. You turned, and began to walk from where you came, your heart aching a bit. You gritted your teeth and held back your emotions, hands shaking as you shoved them into your pockets.  Life isn't always fair, but the bitter truth is hard to accept. Making your way back to your base, you stared at the ocean you and Abbacchio always spent time at. You felt your emotions well up in your chest.

      You knew what was going to happen. One group will die, one will live. The fact is, which one. You laughed bitterly, shaking your head and staring away, staring a hole into the ground. Welcome to the present day Romeo and Juliet, just a few different twist and turns along the way, but the ending is always the same.

     The worst part is, you didn't have the guts to tell him what you thought. Now, that opportunity is gone.

           "I love you too, Leone Abbacchio."
