I feel like I should be nervous sitting here, but I'm not. Okay, maybe I was a little nervous, but only because I didn't want to trip and make a fool of myself in front of everyone.

I still had a bit of waiting to do, so I turned around to look for Frank, Mikey, and my parents. My grandma was sick so she couldn't come, but she wasn't doing that bad. Just bad enough that it would have sucked if she had to sit out for however long this is gonna last. I caught Mikey's eye and subtly waved. He waved and nudged Frank, who then looked over and waved as well. I smiled and turned back around.

After quite a bit of waiting, my row stood up in a line and headed over towards the stage. I was getting a bit more nervous now, but I told myself I had nothing to worry about. I almost tripped on my own foot after getting caught up in my thoughts, so I told myself to focus.

"Valdez, Brian." We had a few classes together, but we weren't close enough to give me a reason to talk to him after today. It made me kind of sad, knowing I probably wouldn't talk to most of these people again.

"Vincent, Haylee."

"Walker, Lila." The last person in front of me started gracefully walking up onto the stage. They took their diploma and smiled for the picture.

"Way, Gerard." I took a deep breath and carefully walked up the steps. Butterflies were going wild in my stomach. Despite being nervous, I was beaming.

I held out my left hand, took my diploma, held out my right, and shook the Chancellor's hand. Still smiling, I turned around for my picture. I could hear Frank and my family cheering for me. After the flash, I shuffled off of the stage to get the rest of my papers.

Once I collected them, I headed back to my seat. While I was walking I could see Mikey, Frank, and my mom and dad waving at me. I didn't know it was possible, but I smiled even wider.

There were only two people after me from my department, and only one more department after mine. It was a fairly smaller group than mine, so it should be over soon.

The next part took longer than I expected it to, plus there was the valedictorian after, but once it was over I got up and started walking towards where I thought Frank and my family would be. It didn't take that long considering the state of Frank's hair, being shaved and dyed red on the sides.

He still hadn't caught sight of me yet, so I rushed over and gently wrapped my arms around his waist.

"Gee! Oh my god, I am so proud of you!" After that, he quickly placed his lips on mine.

After he pulled away, Mikey almost tackled me in a hug from behind. "Agh, careful!" I squeaked as I turned around to hug him back.

"We're so proud of you, Gerard. We always knew you could do anything you put your mind to," said Donna, my mom.

For a brief moment my mind went back to the band I started that never got off the ground, and I almost frowned. I quickly brushed away that thought as my father said, "Yes, we are. We're so happy you found something you're passionate about." I almost frowned once again. I loved writing music, singing, and performing, maybe even more than art. But I know now that it was only a temporary thing, and I am pretty confident that I will be able to get a good job with this degree.

Frank noticed I was spacing out and asked if everything was okay. "Everything is perfect," I replied. "Especially now that I've graduated. I loved school, but I am so excited to see where this leads. I have been working so hard to get here."

"It's so cool to see you graduate. Hopefully I will at some point," Mikey jokes.

"Mikes, don't say that. I have faith in you, you will get through just fine," I respond.

"Well, we should probably get back to check on grandma, you guys are coming over tomorrow, right?" My mom asks.

"Of course, mom. Tell her I love her!" I say.

"I promise. See you then."

"Bye, mom. Bye dad, bye Mikes!"

"Bye Mrs. and Mr. Way, bye Mikey."

After they leave I turn to Frank. "So, back to the apartment? Wait, I'm actually kind of hungry, d'you think we could stop somewhere?"

"Don't you want to change first?" he giggles.

"Oh yeah, that makes sense. Could we just go to that burger place near the apartment after? I don't want to wait much longer. They have something you can eat, right?"

"Yeah, I'm pretty sure. Let's go." He grabs my hand and pecks my lips, and then we walk towards the visitor parking lot. He leans his head against my shoulder as we walk.

"I am so proud of you, you know. How did I get so lucky with such an amazing guy? I know I've said this about a million times, but you are so talented."

Even though he has said it a lot, I start blushing a little. "Thank you, baby."

He pulls my head down and tilts his head up. "I love you, Gee," he says, muffled by my lips.

"I love you too, Frankie."
