Shattered

A Crumpled Heap

Liam's Pov

Me and the boys hurry to peer over the edge of the stage. Immediately the fans crowd round the area where the trampoline HAD been. A gasp escapes me as I stare down at the crumpled heap.
"LOUIS" I cry.
A teen moves to help him up.
"STOP" I yell, the daddy direction kicking in, "don't move him".
A small moan escapes Louis's lips. Taking that as our cue the four of us clamber off the stage into the pit below.

Niall and Harry usher the people back while Zayn and I kneel alongside Louis.
"Lou", Zayn croaks out, barely a whisper. The silence which followed was almost expected as I tore my gaze away from Lou's contorted face to his legs.

One was twisted at an awkward angle seeping blood out just below the knee onto the floor beneath him.

Louis's Pov

I can feel the eyes on me, that however was nothing compared to the pain that was pulsating in hot waves from my right leg. I open my eyes to see the faces of Liam and Zayn leaning over me , full of concern.

"I'm fine guys" I stutter out, making a move to get up. Liam puts a hand gently on my shoulder.
"You need to stay still, your hurt bad Lou".

Harry's Pov

By now security had reached us and were finishing ushering the last few shocked fans out the doors. Niall and I hurried to Louis's side. I swallow nervously. This did not look good.
The grimace that was slowly forming on Louis face seemed enough to spur Daddy Direction into action. Liam regains his composure and begins giving orders quickly but confidently.
"Harry, call 911, Zayn ring Eleanor now and Niall go find a jacket or something for Lou, he's ice." "I'll stay here with him."

Nialls Pov

Gently I cover Louis with Zayn's jacket before looking up. Harry runs into the room with promises that an ambulance is on its way, shortly followed by Zayn bearing the news that El would meet us at the hospital. At that I breath a sigh of relief, some good news at least.

Louis's Pov

Pain radiates through me with the intensity of a hot knife, causing me to grit my teeth in agony. I can hear the boys bustling around me, but I just stare, wide eyed yet blindly at the ceiling. My eyes flicker as Liam cautiously rubs my arm, reassuring me that both the ambulance and El are on their way. Abruptly I cough making my eyes water in pain. Liam grips my arm a little tighter and curses the ambulance's lateness under his breath. " With that I hear the hurried clumping of boots and then blackness clouds my vision.

Zayn's Pov

It's almost a relief when Louis blacks out. It hurt to see him in so much agony. It's even more of a relief when we hear the reassuring sounds of an siren and hurried footsteps come towards us.

After a quick assessment by the medics they make clear that Louis is in a bad condition and needs to be rushed to hospital immediately. Almost involuntarily my hand shoots up requesting to accompany him in the ambulance. The medic hurriedly agrees.

After an uncomfortable 30minutes we arrive at the hospital and the doctors wheel Louis into a room. I make a move to follow, only to be stopped by a stern word from the nearest doctor telling me I will have to wait outside.
Harry appears to my left and leads me wordlessly to a private room where the other boys are waiting.

I sit on the couch next to Liam and pull out my phone. Anything to occupy myself and stop me thinking about my best mate lying in agony on a bed down the hall. I was startled out of my trance by a knock at the door.

A nurse in mint green scrubs poked her head around the door.
"Miss Calder has just arrived, we sent her in to see Mr Tomlinson, if that's alright?"
Liam mumbles an "ok" before returning his gaze to the floor.

I swallow uncertainly. When I had spoken to Eleanor on the phone I had simply mentioned a possibly broken leg so as not to worry her. She will be in for a horrible shock when she sees the state of poor Lou.
