the group of teenagers were sitting in layla's living room watching some random movie and eating ice cream. salma was sitting next to karim.
"sal what'd you and gio actually talk about?" he whispered to her "i told you i was nervous about blending in" she whispered back nervously "but you're never like that" "maybe i just hide it from you" she giggled to lighten the mood up "yeah sure" he scoffed
salma's phone ringing interrupted her conversation with karim. it was her mom facetiming her.
"hey its my mom, you wanna talk to her?" she asked him "oh my god yes my mama i missed her" he replied excited
she smiled and swiped right to reveal her mom's big smile.
"hola mija" her mom said "hey mommy" "hi mama" karim jumped in "oh! karim! sweetie ive missed you so much" her face lit up when she saw karim "ive missed you so much too!" karim smiled at salma's mom.
all eyes were now on salma and karim as they yelled at the phone trying to speak with salma's mom.
"I WANNA SAY HI" eshana yelled and grabbed salma's phone "esha! baby i miss you how are you!" salma's mom said "i miss you even more! and im doing great how are you?" she smiled at her
salma's mom, eshana and lucas all talked for a while as she told lucas to take care of her and treat her well. salma's mom was like a mother to the entire group. she treated them and loved them like her children. karim was her favorite though. he grew up with her daughter after all.
"your mom seems cool" gio said "yeah i guess she is. i love her" salma smiled "introduce us to her" he said layla, celia and elijah nodded quickly. "if they'd give me my fucking phone back" she yelled the last part "damn alright here" karim said handing the phone back to salma
"mommy, you wanna meet my new friends?" salma said grinning "im glad you made friends baby! introduce me!" she smiled widely
salma introduced all her friends and from her mom's wide smile she could tell that she liked them. salma wouldnt trade moments like these for the entire world.
"such a pretty friend group" salma's mom said "celia and layla only" salma giggled earning a glare from gio and elijah "when are you gonna visit me mija?" "soon mommy. i missed you so much" salma said as she walked back to the couch laying her head on karim's shoulder. "ive missed you too baby. i really cant wait to see you even though you've only been gone for a week" she teared up. "mami, dont cry! you'll make me cry" she giggled "the house has been so empty without you and your friends" she wiped her tears away "how is caesar?" salma asked her mom concerned "he's doing great baby. the doctor says thats hes getting a lot better" she said "i miss him so much" salma cried "he misses you too baby." she teared up. "i hope you're taking good care of her" salma's mom smiled talking to karim "i am, dont worry she's in good hands" karim smiled at her and at the group. "well ive got to go! ill call you later mija" salma's mom smiled and waved at her "bye mommy!" salma wiped her tears and ended the call.
salma's 12 year old brother has been suffering with cancer since he was born. he always stayed at the hospital connected to endless wires and tubes. salma's heart ached whenever she saw her brother. he always looked tired but his smile is always wide. she adored him and his smile with her entire heart.
"i didnt know about your brother" gio said quietly "yeah i didnt tell you guys i guess." she looked down "what does he have" elijah asked slowly "cancer" she replied "oh fuck.. im sorry but we're here for you you know that" layla said. they all nodded agreeing. "yeah thanks guys" she smiled and wiped her tears they all smiled back.
the group sat in silence for a few moments till elijah spoke up.
"i really hope im not the only one whos hungry" he said trying to lighten the mood up. "you're definitely not. im hungry as fuck too" layla said and layed her head on elijah's lap "pizza?" eshana suggested they all nodded at her. gio called the local pizza store and placed their order.
soon enough the teenagers were stuffing their faces with pizza while watching a movie.
"sleepover?" layla asked them "fuck yeah" gio nodded.
they spent the night eating pizza, laughing and watching movies. salma, eshana, karim and lucas couldnt be happier, they found friends and clicked so quickly. its days like these where they're happy that they moved.
