YAMAGUCHI’S POV

“And there… that’s Ursa Major, and over there is the Ursa Minor…” Tsukki says in a tranced tone. “They represent bears.” I smile.

“That’s neat!” I chirped. I remember reading about some of the simple constellations in a few books, so I faintly knew what Tsukki was talking about.

I was currently laying down next to Tsukki on this small hill near the park. We basked in the moonlight which was falling all around us. The stars twinkled above as I breathed in the cool, crisp air. The full moon was almost directly above us, illuminating Tsukki’s face.

“You were right,” I say, looking at the sky. I felt his gaze shift over to me. “The moon is definitely the prettiest!” I grin, looking over at him.

“Told you,” Tsukki says, smiling widely. Tsukki was different under the moon. He was happier. He was like a kid. The night sky brought out the Tsukki no one sees anymore. The Tsukki before he and his brother started to ignore each other.

“That’s the constellation of Gemini,” Tsukki continues, pointing at somewhere in the sky. I hummed.

“Gemini… they’re the twins, right?”

“Yeah,” I didn’t know a lot of constellations, but I learned a few so I could talk with Tsukki like this. I look in the direction he was pointing, not really seeing anything resembling two human beings. I guess you have to be really imaginative to see it.

Suddenly, I felt his warm hands on mine. He lifted my hand up at the sky. I felt my face flush.

“There.” Tsukki says casually, while I squirmed under his touch. “If you really look at it they look like humans.”

I stared intently at where I was pointing and Tsukki released my wrist. I slowly put my hand down, trying to hide the blush creeping up on my neck.

“Do you see it?” he asks me, as if nothing happened. Why was I getting so worked up over a simple touch?

“Kinda,” I say, tilting my head. “Yeah.. a bit.” Tsukki hummed beside me.

We sat in a comfortable silence. Normally I don’t like the quiet so I’d fill it in by talking about random nonsense, which Tsukki probably found annoying. But right now, it was almost like it would be wrong if I spoke.

So I stayed silent. Tsukki stayed silent. The nature around us stayed silent. The only thing talking was the stars dancing in the sky. We didn’t need to say anything. It was as if our bodies were talking for us. As if the entire world paused for a moment.

The moment I felt something brush over my hand.

The moment I felt warm fingers entwine with mine.

The moment I felt a firm squeeze on my hand.

The moment we held hands under the moon.

--

“Good morning, Tsukki!” I call. It’s been around a week since we held hands, and so far both of us have been acting like it never happened. It also has been a week the bet was been ongoing. I’m pretty sure Hinata’s secret crush was Kageyama, despite their constant fighting.

“Hey,” Tsukki says back and we start walking to school. As usual, I start rambling about who knows what. I just say what comes to my mind, including some of the more negative things I think of. You know, like how I find Tanaka and Nishinoya to be really immature at times and that when Ennoshita sneezes he spits everywhere. I only say these things to Tsukki, one because I’m not really sure he actually listens to me and two, because I know he can keep a secret.

I stopped talking as we saw Nishinoya doing push-ups in front of the school. “What the…”

“What’s this idiot doing now?” Tsukki mutters. I shrug and we start to walk to class, but unfortunately he spots us.

“YAMAGUCHI! TSUKISHIMA!” I jump when I hear my name being called and a few seconds later Nishinoya was balancing on my shoulders.

“What-” I start to say. I start to loose my balance but Tsukki grabs my shoulder to steady him.

“Get off him,” Tsukki scowls. I felt myself blush when I noticed all the other students walking by us and whispering. Nishinoya jumps off and I massage my shoulders.

“RUN WITH ME, TSUKISHIMA!” he yells. I avoid the gaze of the people staring at us oddly.

“What? No.” Tsukki says instantly.

“YAMAGUCHI!” Nishinoya turns to me, with this fire in his eyes.

“Me? Uhm.. I should really be going to class…” I mumble, wishing I could decline as easily Tsukki had. I take a step back.

“Aw come on!” Nishinoya says. “A little bit of running can’t do any harm!” I look at Tsukki, who was looking rather amused.

“No really, I’m fine,” I say.

“NISHINOYA!”

I turn to see Tanaka running up to us, panting.

“Aye, Tanaka! Run with me, bro!” Nishinoya says, jumping up and down.

“No!” Tanaka says. “You have to go to class, like right now!”

“Y’all are no fun,” Nishinoya says, scowling. He runs off into the building.

“What just happened?” Tsukki asks.

“I made the mistake of giving Noya coffee.” Tanaka says. I let out a laugh.

“Nishinoya-san and coffee… what a handful.” I mused as we continued to walk to class.

“How annoying,” Tsukki scoffs, the amusement on his face faded into a scowl. I let out a tiny sigh.

“Hopefully he chills out before volleyball practice,” I say.

“He better. He was already annoying without any coffee making him even more hyper than he already is,” Tsukki sighs. I snicker. I look at his hand. Do you think he’ll mind if I…

“YAMAGUCHI!” I jump at the sound of my name being yelled for the second time this morning. I warily turn around and see Hinata flying towards my face.

“AH-” I yell before he crashed into me, which pushed me into Tsukki. When I dared to open my eyes, I found all three of us just a mess on the floor. I heard a ‘tch’ behind me when I realized I was sitting on Tsukki’s lap. Embarrassed, I muttered a “sorry” as I tried to untangle Hinata from me.

“What the hell?” Tsukki snaps after we got up. There weren’t a lot of kids in the hallways, considering that classes were going to start in a minute.

“Yamaguchi,” Hinata says completely ignoring Tsukki and turning to me. “Kageyama says you have a girlfriend!”

“WHAT?” I say, louder than I wanted. “No! I don’t, what makes him think that?”

“Well, uhm he-”

“BOKE HINATA!” came a loud yell from down the hallway. Of course, it was Kageyama who was running towards us.

“Sh!” I say, anxiously. “We’re already late to class. Also, let’s just make this clear: I do not have a girlfriend.”

“Phew! I thought I lost the bet,” Hinata said, relieved.

“Eh? What bet? Who said Yamaguchi had a girlfriend?” Kageyama asked, clearly confused.

“You did!” Hinata said. “Nevermind the bet,”

“Boke! I did not-I said Yamaguchi should get a girlfriend!”

That didn’t really make me feel better. I turned to Tsukki to find out he already gone. I left Kageyama and Hinata since they started fighting and wondered if Tsukki thought I was straight.

Me? In a committed relationship with someone? A girl? Impossible.
