"...for us."
You gasped for air as you were woken up by a strange voice, you looked around frantically, slowly realizing you were on the sofa feeling a soft and warm fabric on you.
Was I... imagining it?
You got up, your eyes blinded by the darkness around you, you were aware you were in the living room but you needed light. You quickly walked towards the wall trying to find the switch, as soon as you turn it on your eyes tried their best to adjust to its brightness.
You paused for a moment, your eyes finally analyzing the living room, there was blood all over the place, you walk towards your mother who just laid down unconscious but Aiden's body was nowhere to be seen.
You quickly look at the floor following the blood trail, leading it outside, Helen must have dragged him out of the house. You made sure to lay your mother down in a comfortable way, covering her with a blanket before you left the house.
You run outside to look but there was nothing, Aiden's body was nowhere to be seen and Helen was gone, where could he have gone to and where did he take Aiden?
Then you remembered Aiden's last words before he passed out, he called out Annie's name. You started to sprint as quick as you could, you knew where Annie would be and you needed to go before Helen reached the school.
Your eyes scanned the ground below you, you looked down if the blood lead anywhere, but it stopped at some point as soon as Aiden was dragged on the grass, you quickly followed it and at the other side of the wooden fence and there he was, that's where Aiden was laying down as he held his wounded side, "Aiden... Aiden!" You call out his name, shaking his body trying to wake him up, you stopped suddenly when he groaned in pain.
He slowly fluttered his eye open, you checked his face closely making sure he was still awake, his face covered in blood and his face wounded as a long slash crossed his eye.
He held his side of his body, still trying to remain awake as he looked at you, "I'm... so sorry for coming to you... but you were the only person I thought..." he struggled to speak up, a stuttering mess as a tear slowly fell down, mixing with the blood on his face as he was in pain.
"Don't talk... it's okay, the police is coming." You reassured him quickly, shushing him and making sure he didn't talk more, he needed to rest.
He grabbed your arm, his hand shaking as he kept a tight grip on you, "Helen... Helen is gone, (Y/n)." He continued, "you cannot change him anymore."
You only stayed quiet as a look of betrayal fell on your face, you were still in denial at everything, you didn't want to believe this was Helen.
You slowly stood up as you saw a police car coming your way, slowly stopping, "I'm gonna find him, Aiden." You quickly ran away the moment the officer stepped out of the car.
You looked back as you saw the figure crouching down to look at Aiden, processing the situation.
It felt like a long run as you stopped to catch your breath for a moment, your hands on your knees as you looked down, drops of sweat falling down on the concrete, you looked at the blood in your hands, your eyes freezing at the realization.
You felt dirty.
You quickly look up and the school was in front of you, you were almost close, you didn't want to stop at this rate you quickly pick up your pace again as you run towards the campus.
Annie, please be okay.
You finally reached the campus, you slam the door open from the school, you look around you and realize how silent the halls were.
You slowly walk around as you try to look for Helen, you tried to be as quiet as possible to not let your presence be known, your body froze as soon as you passed by a door leading to a classroom, the door was slightly open but below it, on the wooden floor, blood was slowly spreading out.
You didn't even dare to look inside, you kept going forward as the uncomfortable feeling of your insides were forcing its way up to your throat, you felt chills all over your body as you walked.
Suddenly you were stopped by an abrupt pull, you were about to scream when a hand quickly covers your mouth, pulling you back inside the classroom. They throw you harshly on the floor as they closed the door from the classroom, you look up quickly to see a very scared classmate looking down at you.
You processed this for a moment as you looked around you, you look behind you to see more classmates of yours sitting on the floor terrified, hugging each other for comfort as dry tears were running down their faces.
You looked up at the classmate that pulled you in, their hand brushing their black curly hair back in a stressed manner as they looked down, "I genuinely thought it was that masked person again." They speak up, "you—" they turn to you, looking worried yet angry, "—you know Annie, where is she?"
You took a moment to process what they asked, you looked down for a moment, "I don't know... she told me she was supposed to be here." You respond.
Your classmate sighs as they slowly sit down on the wooden floor, their back against the door as they covered their face with their hands.
For the bunch of classmates sitting here, it was eerily quiet, not a single sound coming from them.
"I can look for her, that's why I'm here." You speak up breaking the tense silence, the classmate in front of you uncovers their face as their hazel eyes looked at you for a moment in disbelief.
Maybe the masked killer outside wasn't the only crazy person in the school.
