I woke up at 7 that morning. Right away I got up and threw on a pair of skinny jeans and a T-shirt. I looked out my window it was storming. Great. I grabbed a black and white flannel to go over my shirt. I looked in the mirror above my dresser. Why do boys find this attractive? Don't they see the girls in mini skirts and crop tops.

I Grabbed my book bag and walked out to the kitchen looking in the fridge for something to eat. I grabbed an apple as Steve walked in to door.

"Heya Evie!" He said picking me up and swinging me over his shoulder. Why is my suffering so amusing for him. "Jesus, when was the last time you had some cake," He shoved some left over cake in my face as he squeezed my rib cage. I pinched his butt so he would put me down. "OWWWW!"

"Oh shut it." I glared at him as he put me down. I walked into the bathroom rinsing the chocolate off my face when I heard two loud knocks on the door. Crap how on earth is 7:15? "Bye!" I said running to the door. There stood Benny Jackson, my best friend and more recently my boyfriend. We had both been crushing on each other since fifth grade and he finally asked me out last week. Benny was 14 and I was 13 but we were both in eighth grade. He was very handsome but the best part about him is that he isn't a greaser or a soc. He's from California, he moved here before fourth grade. Kids say he looks like a soc but dresses like a greaser. I don't agree he wears skinny black jeans most of the time with a polo or sweater sometimes a flannel. He looks more like a mix if anything.

"So I was thinking there this beach movie playing at the drive in tonight and you and me could go. Like a date." I looked at his deep blue eyes. So full of hope and wonder that I would say yes.

"Sure but no way are you holding my hand." He laughed and put his arm around me. I tried to give him a glare but it quickly turned into a smile.

School was drag just like always. By the time the day was over I was starving. School lunch tastes like recycled vomit so I usually just go to the library and read. Benny met me by my locker there was something in his hand.

"Put this on." He said throwing me a necklace. I caught off a reflex and looked at it. At first I thought it was a flower but when I looked closer it was a a tiny knife. It was way cooler then any necklace I owned.

"Thanks."
