Blood Moon

Chapter 3 - Carlisle's POV:

I was just finishing sorting through the file cabinet behind my desk when the phone rang. Rosalie looked at me in question. I nodded to her and she picked it up after the second ring. 

"Dr. Cullen's office," she said with a grin. I smirked at her and turned back to the paperwork in my hands. She tapped my shoulder and looked me in the eye. Her golden eyes where swirled with fear and confusion. 

"Rose?" I asked as I froze.

"It's Mom," she stumbled out. "She said something happened and we need to go home."

"What else did she say?" I pressed, anxious now. Rosalie just shook her head. "Rose," I said as I grabbed her shoulder and squeezed lightly. 

"Nothing, she hung up," she said. I knew something bad must have  happened or she would not call me home from work. I sped around my office, shoving papers into folders and drawers as Rose packed our bags. We were ready to leave after a minute and a half. We strained ourself to walk normally out to our car and smile at my secretary in  her office. As soon as we were in the car, I dialed my wife and sped towards home, going about forty miles above speed limit. She answered on the second ring. 

"Carlisle," she said in her soft and silky voice. 

"What's happened?" I asked her nervous. 

"A small group of newborns came earlier while Alice and I were out," she says. I immediately started to wory about my other children. 

"The others?!" I asked, fearful.

"They're fine, but Jasper killed one of the newborns and we were given reason that the others may be coming back. They were chasing after a newborn named Lillith. She's a shapeshifter and a vampire. It was all a bit confusing but apparently the other vampires wanted her dead because whoever kills her gets her powers. Then Em was telling me how she helped him and Jasper fight off the others," she said really fast. I noticed Rose sit straighter when she mentioned Emmett.

"But you're all safe?" I pressed.

"Yes, we are all safe," she said. I let out a sigh of relief as I sped round the corner and the sight of the house had me and Rosalie speechless. Windows were smashed and the furniture was thrown around in our living room area. Rose sped out of the car and into the house with me right behind her. We saw the whole family in the living room. Renesmee stood behind Bella and looked around the room in awe. I could smell the all too familiar smell of the burning peices of the newborn Jasper killed. Esme greeted me at the door and I slipped my arm around her waist and squeezed a little bit. I was glad that no one in my family got hurt.

"So where is the girl now," I asked my wife.

"Hunting," said Emmett witha mischevious grin.

"She's already mostly on our diet," Edward said. I was shocked, then again it didn't take Bella long. Edward snickered and kissed Bella. Then we heard a peircing scream from the distance. Emmett was the first to react by leaping out the broken window with all of hell's fury and wrath in his eyes. A second scream and we all were running too.
