Blood Moon

Capter 4 - Lillith's POV:

I had been enjoying myself, tracking down a small herd of deer deep into the forest. I could hear the faint heartbeats of the fifteen or so deer. Then the winds changed, redirecting my attention to the smell of dogs and rapid heartbeats as they quickly approached. I noted the pattern of persuit and changed into a vampire to allow more speed. I sped as far as i could to get way from them and ended up hopelessly lost. I glanced to my left and something I was never expecting to see. It was a gigantic wolf. It had coal black fur and black eyes and seemed to be six feet tall at full height.A screan escaped my lips as it suddenly slammed into me. I flew sideways until I hit a tree. Before I could slde back down, I climbed to the lowest branch that was out of harms way. I hated hights.Two more wolves suddenly joined the first. One was slightly smaller than the other two and had white and gray fur. The other had reddish-brown fur. They snapped at me and clawed at the tree. Next thing I knew, the branch snapped and I came tumbling down. A scream escaped me as I fell in a heap on the ground. The black wolf pounced on me only to be flung off by a very pissed looking Emmett. The wolves immediately stopped as Emmett pulled me behind him. The wolves snapped at him a couple times but made no more advance. Suddenly the entire family was here in front of me. There were two more that I did not recognize. The reddish-brown wolf walked up to the young girl, Edward's daughter. I watched as the girl ran her hands through the wolf's fur. The wolf then turned to Edward who nodded and then the wolf bowed and walked away. The other wolves looked us over, especially me, before following the other one away into the forest.

"Are you alright?!" Emmett asks frantically as he turns to me.

"Yeah," I say very unconvincingly. I then feel too lost and confused and overwhelmed. Everything was happening way too fast. As I looked at the other vampires around me, I felt panic growing inside of me. I took off running as fast as I could because that is what I have always done. Whenever smething was hard for me, I ran.

"Lil-" I heard Esme yell behind me. I ran all the way to the opposite side of the forest where I stood high up on a cliff overlooking a rough ocean. That was the second time I was teamed up on by a group of three. I felt somene watching me and turned around and around. No one was there. The feeling vanished as someone came crashing through the trees. I wasn't really surprised to see Emmett staning in front of me a second later.

"Hey, squirt," he says lightly. I snort at his nickname but plop down on the ground. He sits next to me and looks out at the cloudy gray ocean. "The blonde haired girl is Rosalie," he says.

"She's going to be my new mother?" I ask him quietly as I play with a stalk of grass.He nods as he studies me. I lean over into his side and give him a hug. "Thank you," is the only thing I seem to be able to say. Suddenly something occured to me. "Hey, uhm, dad," I said, trying the word for the first time. The reaction was priceless though. He did this wierd choking noise before planting the biggest grin on his face.

"Yes, squirt?" he said with a chuckle. I twirled the blade of grass faster between my fingers.

"Do you think mom would like me better if I was human?"I ask him. He looked at me with wide eyes,completey shocked. "Humans are technically animals," is all I say as I stand up. I feel myself grow weaker and my vision clouds before becoming as clear as any human could see. I could feel my heart pumping in my chest. Emmett stood up slowly and looked me over.

"I don't think your mother will care as long as you are her daughter," the blonde girl said as she emerged from the trees. I smiled shly at her, my heart racing a mile a minute. She and Emmett laughed.

"So squirt,I guess it's up to you!" he says as he flings me over his soulder. I laughed as we sped off towards homel ike that, with me over Emmett's shoulder. towards my first ever place I can call 'Home'.
