Chapter 11
Pristine’s POV
Pristine was happier than she’d ever been since birth. Since Jasam’s arrival her life had changed drastically. Her days were no longer filled with all-consuming boredom and monotony, instead they were filled with excitement and adventure, happiness and tranquility and she loved every moment of it. She loved his constant warm smiles and how gentle he was with her.
He treated her as if she would break with a simple touch. She loved his independence and hearing him talk about his family, she loved spending time with him and most of all she loved him. She hated that she wasn’t able to tell him how she felt, she really wanted to but she hadn’t told him about her father and so with that lie by omission between them she found it difficult to say the words.
It nearly broke her heart after seeing the look on his face when she didn’t return his words but she’d already made up her mind to tell him how she felt and about her father when she saw him next week. She prayed he’d take the news well. It was unlikely.

Jasam’s POV
I found Sven purely by accident in December. I wasn’t to see Pristine for another week, I was bored with my hotel and every two minutes my phone rang with people wishing me a happy birthday. I left my phone in my suite and teleported to Australia.
When I was a boy of seven Analise took me there for a week, it was summer and she wanted me to experience the great ‘outback’. She took me into the wild forestry where we stooped in a high tree and watched nature take its course.
The heat had been scorching but the creatures had been absolutely majestic. It was a well spent week and it was also the first and only time my sister and I spent so much time together, just the two of us.
It was that memory that brought me here on my birthday. The lake had frozen over and there were no animals in sight, the scene was almost depressing. I was about to teleport back to the suite when I heard something in the distance…voices, lots of voices. It was strange to me that people would be out in this weather (with the exception of myself of course). I heard cheering, howling, snarling and laughing.
It made no sense to me so I ran toward the sounds and peered at the group from behind a wide oak tree. There were werewolves, vampires and other human looking creatures that I guessed to be either condoloids or shapeshifters. I counted thirty-five of them, not counting the tall black man standing on a raised platform in front of the group.
“…and destroy them once and for all.” The man was saying. A cheer went up from the creatures. I froze. They were planning to destroy something or someone, this couldn’t be good. I teleported closer and crouched behind another tree.
“I want you all to go out and find those of our own kind. Trevoc, you are in charge of the werewolves, report to him with your recruits.” He turned to his left addressing another group “Shapeshifters, find other shapeshifters, Sedecrem is in charge of you. Vampires you know what to do, Lex is in charge.
I have a special job for you condoloids, I don’t want you recruiting just any old person, you will find only the most gifted condoloids and do whatever you need to do to get them here. You are to report back to me.”
The man stepped down from the platform and continued; “Now remember, if they show any sign of resistance, you tell them that I personally sent for them.” His eyes travelled through the crowd.
“This army needs to be magnificent if we are to successfully topple the entire human and mythical race!”
More cheers went up. I couldn’t believe my ears.
