EMMAS P.O.V:
Monday, the day I dread most. Why? Because it's the beginning of the week, of the torture, of the pain. I'm downstairs, standing by the front door. My parents left for work ages ago, and my siblings are walking to school, despite it being the middle of December and the doors open at eight thirty.I look at my phone. Seven ten, I'll leave at seven fifteen. Five minutes later I'm out the door and walking to the bus stop. From my front door, I see someone standing in my yard. My breath hitches in my throat when I realize that it's Alex.
ALEXS P.O.V:
I stand in Emma's front yard for about twenty minutes, waiting for her. At about seven seventeen, she walks out the front door and walks towards me slowly. "Hi," I say, looking at my feet."Hi," she says. She looks over shoulder, then side to side.
"There's no surprise ambush," I say, "I just wanted to, uh, ask you something."
"Fire away," she says. A smile curls her lips. God, she's so cute when she smiles, which is a rare occasion.
"Uh, look. I know we haven't been the greatest of friends-"
"Got that right," she says with an eye roll.
"but," I say, "I was wondering if you might want to do something on Friday." I stare into her bright blue eyes, ready to face rejection.
"Sure," she says with a smile. I stare at her in surprise.
"Oh, okay. Um, I'll just walk home with you after school and we'll figure out what to do."
She giggles, something I've never heard from her. "Sounds great," she says. With that, we walk, side by side, to the bus stop.
