I knock on the door twice before Ms. Judith yells that I can come in.
"Violet..." She started.
"I'm fine Ms. J. Just trouble with my friends." I said and she laughed softly.
"I saw the video you know? I know everything. We're still trying to figure out who sent it. I told Principal Lee." She holds my shoulders.
"I just...this is just...it hurts so much. It hurts so fucking much. Why does it hurt so much Ms. J? Why?" I put a hand to my chest and rubbed it hoping it would ease the pain but it didn't.
"Come here." She says and I don't hesitate to hug her. "Tell me about it. I've been there like a million times." She withdraws.
"What hurts the most is that it's my best friend." Tears pool in my eyes threatening to fall anytime soon.
"Oh, about that part...I think you have to talk to him honey. He might have something to say. Let him explain."
"Explain? What does he need to explain? Everything's been spelt out Ms. J."
"Bullshit Violet. I know you more than that. Swallow your pride and go talk to him. You don't want to do anything you'll regret or rather wish you did something." She crosses her arms.
"I just don't want to get hurt again."
"Never feel bad for anything you're gonna do. Unless it's really really bad and may hurt the ones you love. I really suck at this. I'm tryna sound like a life coach but..."
"You're doing just fine Ms. J." I chuckle. "I'll talk to him." I bite my lip.
"Go now will you? It's time for your lunch right?"
"Yeah it is." I nod and walk out of the lab. " Oh and thanks."
"Anytime Vi."
I obviously can't go to the cafeteria because I would have no where to sit so...I head to the field instead.
Sitting cross legged on the smooth grass under the tree, I brought out the PBJ sandwich I whipped up before school. I sighed in delight once I took a bite of the edible blessing.
That's definitely what I need for a shitty day like this.
"Hey." I look up trying to figure out who it is was. My breath seizes when I see him. With a shaky voice I reply.
"Hi Mace." Should I be mad at him or not?
For what? For not making your dreams come true? Sure go ahead and yell at him like the idiot that you are.
"You okay?" He asks sitting next to me.
"Actually, not really. But I'll get it all sorted really soon."
"Sure you will. That's what I like about you Violet." He smiled and bumped his shoulder against mine.
My face felt so hot immediately. Damn you Anderson! How dare you? How can you still stir up these crazy reactions from me in a moment like this? Curse you and your beautiful hair and eyes and skin and--ugh! Curse my body and it's messed up hormones.
"Shouldn't you be with Miles?" I don't know why I asked that but I kinda regret it now. "I don't know why I..."
"It's okay. He made sure we cut off whatever we had then, he said it might hurt you. He really cares about you, yunno?" I just bit my lip and shrugged. "It's not in my place to talk to you about this but I think you guys need to talk."
"Yeah, I guess."
"But you're actually amazing Violet. I hope you'll meet someone worthy of your love."
