School ended faster than I expected though. Mace insisted on dropping me home and I eventually agreed. As we walked to his car, my phone rang.
"Hey Penny."
"Hey honey. The house is extremely full right now, Tom sent moving vans over and even though he's against it, I have to stay here and supervise it. Trust me, you do not wanna come home now." She paused and then yelled so loud "Hey!!! I swear if you break those porcelain figures I'll chop your head off and sell it!!! You can't find those babies elsewhere!!! They were a gift!!!" I almost dropped my phone in fright.
"Penny?!"
"Oh sorry sweetie. This is why I wanted to stay. Can't you just stay at a friend's place or something for now? I'm sending Jake over by the way, he'll drop you wherever you wanna go or you wanna go to Tom's?"
"Um...I'll just go to Tom's I guess. I'm still not in good terms with my friends." I said looking at Mace.
"Oh okay. I'll meet you at Tom's."
"Yeah, bye." I said hanging up.
"You should go, my mom's sending someone over to pick me up." I say to Mace.
"Um... okay? You sure?"
"Yeah yeah just go. I'll be fine." I say tapping him on the shoulder.
"Come here." He says pulling me into a hug. I bury my face on his neck and inhale the scent that always drives me crazy.
"Stop trying to get me all emotional now." I pull away.
"Alright alright." He raises his hands. "Text me, okay?"
"For sure."
***********
"To be very honest, I never thought I'd ever ask you to take me here."
"Too late to change now V." Jake whistled as he came down from the car.
I sucked in a huge breath and cursed silently before coming out from the car.
"Just say what needs to be said kid and let's get the hell outta here cos I got a date." He leaned against the car.
"You always say that." I scoffed.
"I mean it. Trust me this one's amazing. I'll tell you about her later, her name's Judith, not cliche at all."
"Hold up. I know a Ms. Judith, blonde, my teacher..."
"Smith. Judith Smith." He cut in.
"Yes!" I screamed. "Oh my God...wait, no. You're literally like a fuck boy aren't you?"
"Ouch." He put a hand to his chest dramatically. "That's disrespectful young lady, I'm older than you with up to ten years so I expect some respect."
"Oohhh. I'm so scared mister." I quivered sarcastically.
"Just knock on the damn door already." He rolled his eyes.
I huffed and did so, a minute later Mrs. Lane opened the door."Oh...hey Violet." She looked surprised. "Come in. I will call Miles...are you here to see him?" She knows.
Of course she knows, dummy. Miles tells his mom everything.
"Yes please." I smiled at her before she ushered me in. I settled on the couch and folded my legs. This place is like my second home...or rather was.
"MILES!" She yelled.
"What mom?! Jeez, I'm busy!!!" He yelled back.
"Get your ass down here! You have a guest!" She placed her hands on her broad hips and muttered something about how she wished she had a daughter.
