I really wanted to go round this house, they're a lot of places I don't know here. Besides, I can get lost in this massive place. But, what happened during dinner dissolved my thoughts. Melanie?
Melanie Burbs?
For the fact that Penny knew that Tom had a daughter and didn't tell me, there's something fishy going on. She even looked confused, like Melanie wasn't meant to be here.
I put on my slippers and walked to Penny and Tom's room. I could hear them arguing.
"Did you see the way she talked to me? She obviously has no respect for me. She has to accept my place in this house. You'd better talk to her Thomas, or I will!"
"Calm down Penelope, you know what the girl has been through. She'll come around I promise."
"Are you scared of her? Huh? Besides, she knows something." Knows what?
"She doesn't know everything, just scraps." Tom said in a lower tone. I pressed my ear to the door.
"Still, I don't want her anywhere near..."
"Eavesdropping?" I jumped when I heard Melanie. "So cliche." She chuckled.
"Um... I..."
"I'm Melanie, but you can call me Mel. Trust me, I'm way nicer than you think." She smiled.
"I'm Violet."
"I advise you to go to your room." She said immediately Penny came out of the room. I didn't miss the small frown she had directed at Melanie followed by Melanie's snicker.
"Violet, you wanna talk to me?" She smiled.
"No, I'm fine Penny." I shook my head. Whatever I needed Penny to tell me wouldn't be the whole truth obviously, they're hiding something from me. I walked to my room quickly. I need to get out of this place, for a drink or something, I'll just meet up with Miles and Lily.
I put on my hoodie and some sneakers, I know it'll be freezing out there. I'm about to walk out the door when I hear knocking.
"Are you okay Violet, Penny sent me." It was Jake.
"Yeah, yeah. I'm fine obviously."
"Whatever you say kiddo." I waited for a few minutes.
"Jake?" I said opening the door. Surprisingly, he was still there, he even looked like he wanted to knock again. "Um...is there a problem?"
He cleared his throat. "No, none at all. I was just..."
"Anyway, I'm kinda busy right now, so maybe when I get back." I cut him off. "And... mind, if you lend me a car?" I smile sweetly.
"Sure, this is for the black toyota parked right in front." He hands me a key.
"Thank you." I sing and walk away. I bring out my phone and text Miles and Lily that they should meet me at the usual place.
Before I even had the chance to see their reply, my phone left my hands and fell, like really slowly, it felt like everything was in slow motion.
It fucking cracked.
Goodbye to my iPhone 8 plus.
But the worst part was that it's because he bumped into me that this happened. "You...again? Christ." I groan sulking over my ruined phone.
"You had your head in that phone, how is this my fault?" Michael rolled his eyes.
"You're so arrogant. Can't you apologise?" I scoff.
