Evan came home at about seven o'clock as usual, went straight to his study. The room was a wreck, it seemed as if someone was bulldozing through his stuff, the drawers were open, the papers were all over the place, it was just a big mess. Almost as much as he was a big mess. He had a girlfriend that moved in with him a month ago. He had two children from different mothers and he didn't even know them. The only link he had to them was the monthly maintenance he paid to them. It was worth almost a quarter of his salary but he didn't really care because he had a big fat salary. His parents disowned him a few years ago just because he refused to get married, he still does. As much money as he had (which he kept in stacks in his steel safe) he was just lonely, sad and just ignorant of the fact that he missed his family, well both ignorant and arrogant to be honest.

He met his girlfriend, Tessa Taylor at a bar. She was one of those "buy me a drink I'll leave with you" kind of women. I'm not sure if Evan was thinking straight when he decided to leave with her for good. Tessa was a waitress by day and a party animal by night, when she met Evan, she became his full-time housewife. All she did was spend, spend and spend. Although she had a few "gangster" activities she did like smuggling drugs across the road, pickpocketing drunkards at the bar and mugging the bartender on his way home. She was more like a wannabe and she knew that know one would suspect a cute, short, skinny, pale faced woman. Although the real attraction was her eyes, they were mesmerizing.
Evan stood at his office just shocked by what he saw, he ran around the house like a headless chicken, looking for Tessa, he remembered that she had been nagging him about changing her last name from Taylor to Knox or to be literal, marrying her. He assumed that she went out to clear her head since she was upset. But the question still stood, who was at Evan's study and what were they looking for?
"If anyone broke into my house then they would've taken something, let me go check if anything is missing". He started clearing the floor of the papers and tidying the table. He fixed the drawers and the book stand. The safe seem intact though but you'd never know. He took his key and opened the safe... His worst fear had come true, he stood there, trying to make sense of what he saw, the money was gone, all of it, half a million, all gone. He was absolutely flabagested. He felt his blood turn cold, his heart sank like the Titanic in that epic movie he used to enjoy. He felt pain on his heart, literal pain, more like a stab, his heart stopped beating and he collapsed at the spot. His secretary called him a few times but when she couldn't find him on the call, she went over to her house.

He got up from the floor and he felt light, free, transparent? He didn't believe in ghosts until that very moment when he realized that he became one, he walked right through the wall of his study into the hallway where he saw paramedics carrying his body in a body bag. He was dead? How? When? Why? He cried out loud but no one could hear him, he screamed his lungs out but no one even looked his way. As he was standing there, trying to take it all in, he suddenly saw a white, bright figure appear before him, it had a glowing, golden ring floating over it's head and a pair of huge feathered wings on its back. It's eyes were blazing red and it was wearing a pure white robe, everything about this figure was just perfect, when he saw its distinct features he remembered that they matched the exact features of an angel. This was more evidence that he was dead. Well according to the Sunday school teachings that he was forced to attend, he was supposed to meet the angel at the gate of heaven, he didn't believe any of that until now. The angel spoke in a voice so deep and so resonant that it made the ground where they were floating over tremble. He was in awe, more like disbelief. The angel started speaking
"I am a servant of the Almighty and I was sent to guide you through this period, I will be showing you what would've taken place if you died."
Evan asked, "So am I dead?"
The angel replied, "No, you are unconscious after you collapsed in your study."

"But I saw my body being carried by the paramedics, in a body bag..."
"Yes, I know, that was all part of the trance, the one you're currently in right now, it's more like a preview of your death."
"Okay, so where is my body then?"
"At the hospital, in a coma."
Suddenly, the white mist they were in disappeared and they were at the hospital where Evan's body was. He saw his parents and his sister sitting on the bench at the bedside. They seem lost, miserable, hopeless. He was crushed by this, the exact people he thought hated him, are the ones who were there for him at his time of need.
"And now we are going to look at what was going to happen if you died."

In a fraction of a second, they were transported to the mercenary, he saw a funeral taking place. There was his photo, his parents and his sister, a tombstone written, "In Memorial Of Evan Frederick Knox". The funeral was decent, but what puzzled him was that he did not see Tessa there.
"And Tessa? Where is she?"
"Tessa is the one who took your safe key, duplicated it and stole your money from your safe. She messed the place up to try and make it look like a break in. I know you're angry right now but you need to change, you have been given a second chance in life, love those who truly love you, focus on building them alongside your empire, start believing in God and in yourself. You don't need setbacks like Tessa, then stop dragging them into your home. Forgive her and forget about her. Your heart did not stop because of disbelief but it stopped because you were angry and very broken, focus on healing."
"Thank you so much, this is exactly what I needed, a wake-up call."
The angel replied, "Don't thank me, this is not my doing but God's. Now go and be a better person"

Suddenly everything turned black and Evan opened his eyes, he was in the hospital, his family had been waiting for weeks. He saw the delight on their faces as he said amen with them. When he woke up, they were praying for him.
