.Chapter Four: Meeting the Gang.
-Brooke's pov-
I'm still wrapped in the dark cloud sleep creates, but ever so slowly am I waking up. Not on my own, that would be too easily, no, to a finger poking my cheek. Repeatedly.
Still in my 'half-asleep, half-awake' state, my brains can't really process what's happening around me, the finger poking my cheek being one of those things. The only thing my brain is certain about is that it's interrupting my peaceful sleep and therefore has to stop.
My lazy hand tries to slap away the finger but misses every time. A groan escapes my mouth but is slightly muffed by my pillow.
'Brooke, I know you're awake, come on. Get up,' a voice calls out to me and is enough to get me fully awake. I'm startled by this voice and open my eyes to take a look at the person from whom this voice is.
The sun is already up high in the sky and shining bright in my room, so it takes a minute for my eyes to adjust. And when they do, i curse loudly and jump back so quickly i fall off the bed next to the nightstand.
Groaning at the pain, i place a hand on my aching elbow, who hit the nightstand.
'You have one minute to explain how you got in here O'Brien,' my hoarse morning voice demands.
'YOU'RE AWAKE! FINALLY!' Dylan cheers, which is to loud for my sleep drunken mind.
'Keep your bloody voice down Dylan, it's too early for that shit. Just explain, quietly,' I am not a morning person.
'Sorry,' he whispers and then continues in a lower volume,' so it was already 10 a.m. and you were still sleeping. So i got this idea to wake you up.'
I wait a few seconds for him to continue, but nothing else follows. It sounds like he is done even though he still didn't actually explain everything.
'But how did you get into my room?' I question him tiredly.
'Oh, I have a spare key,' he casually responds, proudly holding up the key.
'You have a spare key to my room? How did you get that?'
'From the receptionist?' He said it on such a way that it came out as a question.
'Why on earth did she give you the key? Isn't that like, breaking some privacy rule, giving random people spare keys to other peoples rooms?'
'Honey, I'm Dylan O'Brien, why wouldn't she give me a spare key,' he smugly said, a grin prominent on his face.
I am still not fully awake, so i just lay back on my bed, pulling the covers back over me. But of course Dylan would not let me alone.
'No, don't go back to sleep,' he fake-cries. He pulls back the covers so a cold breeze flows over my body. It feels like someone just switched the room temperature from heavenly warm to freezing Alaska-cold.
'Let me sleep,' i drag out the sleep, hoping that Dylan would finally get it in his mind that i want to sleep.
'No, i will not. This is one of the only days we have of before we begin shooting the Scorch Trials, so this is a perfect opportunity for you to get to know the rest of the gang,' he is trying to get his voice sounding all authority and such, but i can hear the smile through his words. I'm already fully awake by now, so i guess I will get up?
'Fine, I'll get up. Thanks to you, i'm completely awake right now,' i say with a sigh and want to get up from the bed. But the party apparently isn't over as another person decides to join me in my room.
'Brooke, why is your wide door open?' I hear a voice call out. And a few seconds later, a blond haired boy appears from behind a wall. Thomas.
'Oh,' he says as he sees Dylan sitting on my bed, as if it's the most normal thing in the world. But he is able to recollect his thoughts and decides to ask. 'What are you doing in Brooke's room, Dylan?'
'I wanted to wake her up to meet the others,' Dylan responds with a smile.
'And how did you get in?'
'Spare key,' Dylan says, but the confusion is clear on Thomas' face, it's probably the same as mine was when he told me this.
'What? A spare key? How did you...?' He is not able to finish his sentence as i'm shooing both of them out of my room.
'Bye boys, I will see you at breakfast,' i quickly say and close the door.
What a wake up call.
*
Half an hour later and i'm ready to go to have breakfast. I walk down the corridor towards the elevators.
I push the button and wait on the arrival of the elevator. A ping sounds around me and the doors open to reveal that I won't be alone in the elevator. A girl with dark colored hair and a light skin hue is standing in front of me. Of course I recognize her immediately as i watched the first movie.
'Hey you're Kaya, right?' I decide to ask as i walk into the little box because can you just imagine how awkward it would be if i was wrong?
'Yeah, and who are you? Do you want an autograph?' She probably thinks i'm a fan.
'No no, you don't have to do that. I'm Brooke, the new actress,' I tell her, trying to be as polite yet friendly as possible. I'm not going to deny that I'm a fan.
'Oh yes! Thomas told me of your arrival. I'm sorry, I hadn't made the connection.' Kaya starts to apologize but I try to stop her.
'Don't apologize, you couldn't have known,' I tell her,' wait, let's start over. Hi, I'm Brooke, who are you?' I extend my hand towards her.
'Hey, I'm Kaya, nice to finally have another girl on the cast,' she laughs and shakes my hand.
For the rest of the elevator ride, we continue to talk and get to know each other. I can already tell that we're going to be great friends.
