Everest had endured the long plane ride home, not looking at her companions as her- Bella curled up with her vampire and held him tight, as if to prevent him from disappearing again. She swallowed the feeling of glass and the taste of ash and did her best to harden her heart against the incoming heartache she knew was coming. When they made it to the airport, she was glad she had texted her siblings to pick her up, knowing if she didn't get away soon; she would lose it. While the vampires were distracted with greeting Bella and her vampire, Alice gave her a small, sad smile as she snuck past them and made her way to where her siblings were waiting for her. Sage and Scout took one look at her face, and folded her into their sides and quickly walked her outside to Sage's jeep.

Sage settled into the drivers seat and Scout sat in the back with Everest and held her the entire way home as she cried. When they made it home, her father picked her up from the backseat and carried her to her room where she curled up under her covers after her mom and Sage helped her into her cozy pajamas. Before her mom could leave Everest caught her hand in hers, sniffling as her mom turned to face her again and smoothed her hair from her face.

"I don't wanna see anyone." she mumbled as the tears streaked down her face. "Can you call my therapist and make an appointment for this week?"

Her mother agreed as Everest's eyes grew heavy with sleep.
