Chapter Seventeen

Three weeks later, Amy arrived home from a long day at the agency. She and Lucas have been working on getting pregnant over the last week.

"Lucas?" Amy said. She got no answer so she went looking for him all over the house and walked into his office. She saw a book on his desk and she looked and saw pictures of people dead. She flipped through it and came across one that stopped her cold.

"Amy?" Lucas asked. She slowly looked up and saw him standing at the door. He saw the book and looked at her.

"Tell me you didn't," Amy said.

"What baby?" Lucas asked.

"My mom's dead?" Amy asked.

"What?" Lucas asked.

"Her picture is right here in this book of dead people whom your family has killed," Amy said. He came over and looked at the picture of her mother.

"Oh baby, no, this is my dad's book, he said it was pictures of people whom he and your father took out together, he gave it to me to look at but I haven't yet," Lucas said.

"You didn't know?" Amy asked.

"No, baby, I didn't, if I did, I never would have asked you what happened to her, I would have already known if I had known this, oh baby," Lucas said. He pulled her into his arms as she broke down crying. He sent a text to her father and brothers and his parents.

"She's been dead this whole time!" Amy said.

"I texted everyone to come over here," Lucas said. He picked her up and carried her out to the living room and sat heron the couch and sat next to her.

"What could she have done to be killed?" Amy asked.

"I don't know, baby, but we will find out okay, I'm here and not going anywhere," Lucas said. The front door opened and closed and Sam and JJ came in and saw Amy crying. They ran to her.

"Sis," JJ said.

"What happened?" Sam asked. The front door opened and closed and Jack came in with Carla and Daniel behind him.

"What's going on?" Carla asked.

"You pregnant?" Daniel asked.

"No," Amy said.

"Sweetheart?" Jack asked.

"She found the book," Lucas said.

"The book?" Jack asked.

"Oh no," Carla said.

"Lucas?" Daniel asked.

"What's going on?" Sam asked.

"What book?" JJ asked.

"The book of people who were killed by Dad and Daniel," Amy said.

"Oh god," Jack said.

"Tell them!" Amy said.

"Dad?" Sam asked.

"Dad?" JJ asked.

"Your mom is in that book," Jack said.

"She's dead?" Sam asked.

"You guys killed her?!" JJ said.

"No we didn't," Daniel said.

"We put the picture in it as a coverup," Carla said.

"What?" JJ asked.

"Who killed her?" Sam asked.

"Jack?" Lucas asked.

"Your sister did," Jack said.

"What!" Amy said.

"What!" Sam said.

"What!" JJ said.

"Your mom has been having an affair, with Nick and Jamie's father, I was in Paris for a fashion show and your mom didn't want to take you guys out of school to go with me so she stayed home, she really wanted to stay home to be with him, you guys were at school, she probably waited until you guys were gone before calling him to the house, but Amy forgot her homework she needed for that day, so she ran back home and saw the motorcycle in the driveway and she went in and heard noises upstairs, she walked in on them in bed, the guy got dressed and ran out as Amy was yelling at her for cheating on me, your mom started arguing back that she was lonely and needed someone who would be there for her, Amy went into the kitchen to get her homework and your mom followed her and they continued fighting, it got to the point where she was calling your mom a whore and your mom got angry and slapped Amy, she got a knife to defend herself from your mom,your mom misjudged the knife," Jack said.

"Oh god," Sam said.

"She impaled herself on the knife," JJ said.

"Amy was in a state of shock that she curled up against the wall in the kitchen and didn't move," Jack said.

"How did you know all this?" Lucas asked.

"I had cameras in the house, I was watching from my phone, I knew something was going on with your mom while I was gone, she was always so happy for me going away, because she knew she would get time with her lover without me around to catch them but she didn't count on Amy coming home that day," Jack said.

"He called me to go over to the house," Daniel said.

"I was with him, I saw Amy curled up against the wall shaking, she never registered that we were there, she was in a state of shock," Carla said.

"I had Carla take her to the hospital while I staged it as a mob hit and had the guys come take her body and do cleanup," Daniel said.

"When they clean, they clean good, never knew anything even happened," Jack said.

"Your dad came up with the story of your mother leaving him and you guys and moving to California," Daniel said.

"She's been dead this whole time," JJ said.

"And you hid that from us?" Sam asked.

"I never wanted any of you to know the truth, or that Amy did it," Jack said.

"Actually Mom killed herself," JJ said.

"She knew the knife was there, she ran into the knife," Sam said.

"She stabbed herself," JJ said.

"For all we know, she wanted to kill Amy to keep her little secret," Sam said. Amy sat there quietly while they talked. Lucas wrapped his arms around her. She broke down sobbing and curled up in his arms.

"Oh god!" Amy said.

"Shh, baby I'm here," Lucas said.

"Sweetheart?" Jack asked.

"Daddy, it's my fault," Amy said.

"No sweetheart, it's not, it's her own fault, I saw the video, she walked right into that knife, she knew what she was doing," Jack said.

"Oh god!" Amy said.

"So she wanted to die," Sam said.

"So her secret would stay safe," JJ said.

"Because she figured that Amy would think she killed her and have a total breakdown and be catatonic," Sam said.

"She was for three days," Carla said.

"She came to after I got her home," Jack said.

"Wait, she was at our house the whole time?" Lucas asked.

"Yes honey, while you were at boarding school," Carla said.

"Oh," Lucas said.

"Lucas," Amy said.

"Yes baby?" Lucas asked.

"Please don't leave me," Amy said.

"I'm not going anywhere, baby," Lucas said. She curled up against him as he held her close.
