Chapter Twenty Two

The next morning, Amy woke up from the bed that was placed in the hospital room and saw Lucas still lying there hooked up to machines. He made it through the night.

"They said you wouldn't make it through the night, I guess you proved them wrong or you can hear me and are fighting to stay with us, now you have to come back to us, you have to wake up," Amy said.

"Amy?" Matthew asked.

"What are you going here?" Amy asked.

"I called his mom to see how he was doing and she said you were with him," Matthew said.

"He made it through the night when they said he might not," Amy said.

"That's good, it's a good sign," Matthew said.

"If you want to know if I made a choice, I haven't, I just know I can't leave him, I love him," Amy said.

"But not me," Matthew said.

"I love you both, but right now he's here fighting for his life, he needs me more, I need to be here with him," Amy said.

"I understand, do you need anything, clothes? Food?" Matthew said.

"Food, I have my bag with me," Amy said.

"Chinese?" Matthew said.

"Sounds good," Amy said.

"I'll get your favorite," Matthew said.

"Thanks," Amy said. He left. Amy sat there holding his hands. She felt a hand on her shoulder and she looked and saw Nick.

"Don't touch me," Amy said.

"I'm sorry for everything, I know where you belong, with him, I relieved Hank and Todd to let them go rest since they have been here all night," Nick said.

"I don't think he needs guarding anymore, the guy who shot him regrets it and he got the other kings to sign a treaty," Amy said.

"Amy, it's better safe than sorry, he could have said that to have you guys let your guard down," Nick said.

"Then why did Hank and Todd let him come in here yesterday to apologize," Amy said.

"What?" Nick asked.

"He was here, the guy who shot him, Ricardo Mann, he said he regrets doing it and wants a treaty with all the mafia kings," Amy said.

"He didn't hurt you did he," Nick said.

"No, Carla was with me," Amy said.

"He wouldn't dare hurt you with Carla around, they are scared of her," Nick said.

"What's going on here?" Daniel asked.

"Get out!" Amy said.

"Amy," Daniel said.

"This is all your fault, get out!" Amy said.

"Now young lady, watch your tone," Daniel said.

"Oh really I should watch my tone, he's fighting for his life because of your deal with my father!" Amy said.

"Daniel, go," Nick said.

"You have no business here," Daniel said.

"Oh yes I do, she is my sister's best friend, she is under my protection as much as your son is because he's the father of her unborn child, you set this all in motion so get the hell out of here before I call security or I put more bullet holes in you," Nick said.

"Daniel, what the hell are you doing here, get out," Carla said.

"I came to see my son!" Daniel said.

"You don't have one, he disowned you remember when he shot you for what you did, unless you want divorce papers served to you, get out!" Carla said.

"Carla, please, I'm sorry, I wanted my son to find that special someone and I thought it was Amy," Daniel said.

"And now?" Carla asked.

"I know he loves her and she loves him and she's having our grandchild," Daniel said.

"The way you went about it was wrong, making them think they were married this whole time when they weren't, you and Jack lied to them, you both lied to both families," Carla said.

"What's going on here," JJ said.

"Get out Daniel," Sam said.

"Let's go out in the hall, dear," Carla said. She dragged Daniel out in the hall. JJ and Sam looked at Nick.

"Guys, he's fine, he was trying to get him out, he's here to stand guard at the door," Amy said.

"I'll be out in the hall," Nick said. He went out the door and closed it. JJ and Sam hugged her.

"You okay sis," JJ said.

"Yeah when he wakes up," Amy said.

"He will, he has a lot to live for," Sam said.

"Carla told me when I got here that they told her that he wouldn't make it through the night but he did," Amy said.

"He knows you are here," Sam said.

"He is fighting to come back to you," JJ said. Lucas moans.

"Lucas," Amy said.

"I'll get the doctor," Sam said. He ran out of the room as Amy stood by the bed and took his hand and his eyes fluttered open and he looked around and saw her and smiled.

"Hey baby," Lucas said.

"Oh my god!" Amy said. She gently hugged him burying her face in his neck.
