vanessa awaited her letter from her new pen pal and once she received it she noticed it had a priority stamp which cost more than a regular stamp. it was more decorative than the other letters he sent so she was a little puzzled.

she opened the front door and placed the other mail on the kitchen counter. vanessa opened the envelope before heading to her room and slid the letter out. she read it quietly on her bed and smiled to herself. she could feel her cheeks heat up from thinking about the cute boy.

should she give him his username? she wanted to build a friendship by sending letters but he was right it's much cheaper if they just dm eachother. stamps are getting quite costly and it's a pain having to wait every couple days just for a response from the boy she admires.

she chose a special colored paper this time and a fountain pen. she started off her letter in her neatest writing.

dear "paul mccartney's side hoe",
hey it's your #1 fangirl ! yeah i do have an instagram :) it's @/vanessa.bowen (of course i already follow you so i'll just accept your follow request !) i agree stamps are getting a bit pricey so dm'ing is way cheaper. paul mccartney's side hoe sounds good haha and i think my "nickname" could be vanessa rigby. we truly are the beatles' biggest fans huh? our late night jam sessions would be godly tbh, i can't wait :) i guess these are our last letters to eachother before switching to modern technology so i wanna say thank you for being my first ever pen pal! <3

vanessa decorated it with care and love which can be seen throughout the whole letter because of the heart shaped stickers and the very neat handwriting. she asked her mom to mail it for her since vanessa didn't have the time to and her mother was already on her way to the mailbox. when she handed it to her mom she lightly kissed it then walked to her room before her mom could react.

dylan had an idea that vanessa was pretty but he never thought she would be beautiful. she was the most gorgeous girl he's ever laid eyes on. he would never admit it to anyone but she was stunning and lowkey was becoming a simp. i mean, who wouldn't? she's talented, gorgeous, and has good penmanship, she's simp worthy. simp material.

he kinda stalked her youtube and tiktok for a couple hours and was mesmerized by the sound of her voice. she sang his favorite song perfectly like an angel was in front of him. her modeling pictures were breathtaking and was a little glad she was pretty. he couldn't belive a girl this cute had a crush on him.

~last timeskip i swear LMAO (its when dylan gets vanessa's last letter)~

dylan received vanessa's letter and saw she spent the same amount of time decorating it like he did. he loves that they both are huge fans of the beatles which is hard to find in girls his age these days.

he finished reading the letter and saw her instagram username. dylan opened up the diverse app and searched up her username. "vanessa.bowen" of course it popped up and saw it said "follow back". he clicked on it which sent a notification to vanessa's phone awaiting her approval.

a hint of realization hit him, he hasn't talked to lola in a couple of weeks. is she okay? was she mad at him? he clicked on her contact and texted her...

meanwhile, vanessa's phone screen lit up with a notification from instagram. "@/dylan.kingwell has requested to follow you" vanessa threw her phone to the ground and started jumping around her room like a maniac. her heart was racing, beating faster and faster till she ran out of oxygen and had to rest for a second.

she sprinted down the stairs calling for her mom. "MOM MOM MOM! AAAHHH GUESS WHAT?!!"
her mother waited for vanessa to spit out her big news. "DYLAN KINGWELL JUST FOLLOWED ME ON INSTAGRAM!" she screamed happily, jumping up and down.

"oh honey i'm so happy for you!! wait is he the boy you're always gushing over? he's the cute one who acts right? i thought you said he was dating someone? wait how did he even find your instagram? it's private"

"well.. uh we're kinda friends.." she confided. her eyes drifting away from her mothers

"how?" the confused parent asked.

"okay well basically i sent him a letter and i didn't think he would reply but he did and we're kinda flirting and he's really nice and i'm kinda simping and he asked if he could follow me since stamps are getting expensive and we have nicknames with eachother so we're friends now..."

vanessa replied speedily, almost as if it was a secret she didn't want anyone to know. she showed her mom dylan's profile and it changed her mood quickly. "ooo ness he's really cute!! and the girlfriend situation?" her mother questioned.

"oh yeah. lola flanery ugh. i think they're dating? on his live-streams she's always there and on his posts she's the first like and comment. they seem more than friends on eachothers posts and why wouldn't they like eachother? they're both incredibly photogenic and actors.

they have so much in common and they've been friends for a long time. i'm just here and i have no chance, he lives thousands of miles away which sucks." vanessa vented.

her mother gave her a comforting smile and a small embrace. vanessa thanked her mom and accepted dylan's request. she decided to dm him on instagram first since she was the one who sent the first letter out anyway.

dylan's phone lit up with two notifications this time. one from his pen pal and one from his "crush."
