A roaring sound filled Ryan's ears as the audience whooped and cheered. A smile tugged the corner of his mouth as hundreds of people, who believed every word Ryan spoke to them- every chilling ghostly encounter he recounted, were asking so many questions. If only Shane could see me now, Ryan thought with a twinkle in his eye. Shane was at his new apartment , not wanting to listen to the many questions about ghosts, spirits and the like. Shane wasn't a believer in the supernatural, that wasn't his thing. Even if he was thrown out of his window by a thousand ghosts, he'd still insist it was a mightily strong gust of wind. So to spite Shane,Ryan volunteered to deliver a PowerPoint presentation to the many fans of his show, Unsolved. He had no idea how many people were into the supernatural, but that didn't put him off. "Any questions?" He asked as his presentation came to a close. To his surprise, at least half of the audience raised their hands. Ryan's eyes raked through the auditorium , and fixed eyes with a teenaged girl, practically dancing in her seat. "You, there, the girl in the back row" He said, pointing to the young girl that just wouldn't sit down. With a little gasp, she stopped her movement. "Have you ever actually seen a ghost?" She blurted out "Or a demon?". Ryan's smile didn't waver. "Ghost-wise. Right. Um, we have footage of the ghost of a prisoner on camera. That was cool."The girl didn't relent. "And demons? You must of seen one." Ryan was slightly taken aback from the force of the question. He chuckled nervously as every eye in the hall was staring at his. "Well, I met Shane, I'm pretty sure he's a demon." The jest only made a few audience members laugh, which kind of freaked him out. The teenage girl took a step forward, staring at him. Oooooookay then. Ryan thought, Tough crowd, I guess. The girl was still staring, and Ryan wished she could stop. Those grey eyes were creeping him out. Instead, he asked "Anyone else have a question?". No response. He raised his eyebrow at the event coordinator backstage, who got the message and rushed onto the stage. "Thank you, Ryan Bergara, for your interesting presentation." And just like that, people flooded from the auditorium. The coordinator looked into his eyes and pursed her lips. "Sorry about the dry ending. I don't know what got into them." She whispered, for some reason. Ryan only smiled. "It's okay. I work with Shane Madej, I'm used to it." The coordinator only smiled and stepped away from him. Ryan peered at her watch. "Oh, damn, it's that late already? Do you-." "Mind, no. You can go. And why'd you look at my watch? You've got one already ." He looked at his own wrist, and surely enough, there was indeed a watch. The coordinator chuckled to herself as Ryan left the hall, mortified.
As he stepped out of the auditorium, he exhaled loudly. He felt incredibly stupid, with all of his blunders from the replaying in his mind. "Excuse me." Ryan nearly jumped out of his skin before he turned around to see only the girl from the meeting. He didn't realise how ghostly she looked, with her papery white skin, incredibly thin frame and pale grey eyes. He didn't mention that of course. She raised a startlingly dark brown eyebrow at Ryan "I'm sorry I asked such a rude question, Ry-Mr Bergara. I'm just fascinated by that kinda thing." "No, no, it's fine, really." The girl smiled, but it wasn't warm. Ryan realised she hadn't introduced herself. It would be rude not to ask, Ryan He chided himself. "Um, What's your name? Sorry I didn't ask earlier." The girl looked worried for a split second, before regaining her composure. "My name? Oh.... my name is Dahlia Black." Like the murder. Probably a coincidence... but Ryan believed that there was no such thing as coincidences , but that name was an exception.Probably. " Nice name. Like the murder."
Damn it. Luckily, Dahlia didn't take offence from that. Instead she handed Ryan a folded piece of paper. " Don't open it now" she pleaded " when you get to your home, research it. Maybe you could give it a visit. See some ghosts with your own eyes." Before Ryan could say anything more, the girl fled, leaving him alone and confused. He decided to do the most logical thing to do- it was time to pay Shane a visit.
