My reflection stared back at me as I get ready for the party.

We are all invited because... Well, we work for them so I guess it's polite and mandatory to invite all the employees.

I took a step back to take a good look at myself as I finished with my makeup. My sleeveless, high neck black dress hugging my body perfectly, reaching just above the knee with an open V back, ending little below my mid-back. I decided to go with this dress because...I am not really sure how long I will stay and it's surprisingly comfortable.

My middle length black hairs are in their natural, sometimes straight or sometimes wavy, state. My natural makeup enhancing my pale-ish skin, my black eyeliner highlighting my light brown eyes, making them stand out than usual, gleaming brightly.

I broke the eye contact with my mirror self, moving around my room as I grab my purse and unplug my phone from the charger. My plain white walls accompanied by a dark purple wall behind my bed in the middle of the room, stared back at their everyday boring companion as I opened and closed random drawers in search for my bracelet.

Standing up after clutching it securely around my waist, I glanced at the mirror once again, my eyes grazing past the few photos framed together above my bed headboard.

I scurried towards my window, stopping beside my study table at one end of the room situated beside the window with a little bookshelf attached to it.

My eyes taking in the car parking out in the open area, the part visible from my window.

I tamped across my room, grabbing my black ankle-strap stilettos from my closet and hurried out of my room into my small living room.

Just as I straighten up after fastening the straps of stilettos, my doorbell rang.

After double-checking everything, I opened my door revealing Nathan standing at other side dressed in a black tuxedo, his hairs slicked back in perfection, giving him a gentlemanly hot appearance.

"Hey" I smiled at him, stepping outside.

I locked my door behind me before both of us making our way downwards.

"You didn't bring a date?" I asked Nathan as we made our way towards the elevator.

"Nope" he answered as the elevator climbed down steadily.

"Why?"

"No reason... Just felt like spending this evening with just my friends."

I scoffed. "Sure"

I opened the passenger door of his car and slipped inside as Nathan made his way to the driver seat.

"What?" Nathan asked exasperatedly, fastening his seatbelt.

"I mean you were whoring around until last month or something and now suddenly you are not with any girl, not even harmless flirting. You don't even have a date today, you who for some reason hate arriving alone in any party.....I mean I understand why you were....." I trailed off, stopping myself before I regret saying too much.

I study him, watching carefully, waiting for him to explode or behave impetuously like always.

He grimaced, a solemn look eventuating across his face. He ran his hands through his light brown hairs stressfully as he recalled everything.
