Hazy, Met your Match, January in Japan, Black and Blue and much more by oh-honey-styles

Where to begin with @oh-honey-styles??? I adored January in Japan!! When I read fanfic, I usually identify with the main character but in this case, Stella was quite far from me but I was very in awe of her. Her personality really shines through this story. She's strong and independent but also delicate and so lovable!! I don't think I would be able to find a more perfect way to describe this story than what the author says in the book presentation. "A story about healing after a heartbreak". Her bonus chapter called "Under summer skies" is a must-read, romance at his finest!

"Hazy" was so good too!! I like that the author uses photos and moments from Harry's life (in this case, new year's eve in Antigua) and gets super creative. I really hope that part 3 will be coming soon because I need my fix!! Hihi

Kate and Harry from "Met your Match" are also in my favourites. Honestly, there's not one thing that you should skip, her whole catalogue is bomb!!

Q&A

What is the first book that made you cry?

Oh wow - I'm not sure if these were the very first, but would you call me completely cliche if I admitted it was any and every Nicholas Sparks book written in the early 2000s? I think that reveals what a hopeless romantic I have always been. I remember reading 'A Walk To Remember' for the first time and absolutely balling my eyes out when Jamie dies.

Does writing energize or exhaust you?

I think both! But whenever I finish a one-shot or a chapter I'm usually completely depleted. Like I need to sleep for days after posting. Most of my writing happens in the AM hours (past midnight), so loads of hours of sleep missed when inspo hits.

If you could tell your younger writing self anything, what would it be?

Don't write to please other people. Or don't try to fit into someone else's mold as to what qualifies as a "good" story. Embrace your imagination and just go wild.

What's your favorite under-appreciated novel?

I honestly don't read many novels in this season of life. But I do read plenty of fanfiction (I consider it an escape in this crazy world) and one of my absolute favorite WIPs right now is my girl kate_ps story 'Trick of the Light'. It deserves billions of reads and notes. Kate has created this beautiful story that runs along an effortlessly mind blowing timeline spanning years of Harry Styles eras. It's completely brilliant.

How many unpublished and half-finished books do you have?

None at the moment! Late last year I wrote two short series back to back and felt a bit burnt out. So I've stuck to one-shots since. Although I do suppose Hazy still needs its happy ending.

What's the most difficult thing about writing characters from the opposite sex?

Probably capturing the way they think correctly. One of the most enjoyable things about writing fanfiction is to capture your fav's habits and well-known mannerism (Harry Styles is so endearing, he makes it pretty easy).

Have you ever edit something out of a book and regretted it afterwards?

I had a full sex scene written for Harry and Stella's first time in January in Japan (when she comes to his door and asks if she can stay the night). But I edited it out because I loved the visual of him taking her by the hands, leading her inside and having the door shut behind them. It felt like a scene from a movie when I wrote it and at the time I wanted to leave it there. But now that I think of it, sharing their first time would've been really impactful to the story. But I did my best to make up for it in Under Summer Skies!
