Summary: Force induced nightmares can be terrible, but... it's sometimes just a bunch of mumbo-jumbo.
Genre: for those who will appreciate it, it can be seen as a sort of humour (-:
And a bit of emotional hurt/comfort too
Warnings: none
I inserted some quotes at the beginning, but I don't know them exactly in English, I just translated by heart😂 Just tell me if they're incorrect.

"I will finish... what you started"

"I know what I have to do, but I don't have the strength to do it".

"She isn't trained, but she's powerful in the Force!".

"Incredible. Everything you have just said is wrong".

"I am all the Sith".

"And I am all the Jedi!".

Luke Skywalker woke up in a cold sweat, his heart racing at the mere thought of the nightmare he had just experienced. He took a series of rapid, shallow breaths as he processed the simple concept: it was just a dream. A terrible, devastating one, but still a product of his imagination.

He could still see some of its most terrible moments, even with open eyes: that all powerful girl, Rey, with her arrogance, Darth Sidious who had come back to life, Leia and Han's son who had joined the Dark Side... and himself, who had become a grumpy elder who didn't believe in people anymore. And everyone had died! Han, himself and finally Leia, taken by a member of their family or by meaningless exhaustion.

Still shocked, Luke shakily stood up and quickly wore a shirt, not even bothering to button it up as he walked towards Han and Leia's hut: he needed to see that they were safe and sound, loving each other as always. Always ready to receive him with open arms.

He left the small hut the Ewoks had lent him and reached the next one, taking finally a deep, restoring breath in the cool Endor night. He lightly knocked on the door.

Someone was already awake inside the minuscule house, because a series of soft steps echoed behind the door.

After a few seconds Luke was greeted by Leia, who looked just as worn out as him.

"Luke" the girl acknowledged. "What are you doing up this late? I thought yesterday had been tiring enough for you".

"It was" her brother confirmed. "But I had... the worst nightmare ever".

Leia raised one eyebrow. "That's interesting... the same happened to me" she said. "Come in".

Luke frowned at his sister's words, but didn't talk about it in that precise moment: he didn't want to alert the rest of the Alliance and of the Ewok tribe. So he simply joined the girl in the hut.

Inside, the small building was warm and comfortable; Han was sleeping peacefully on a bed made of leaves, snoring softly.

Leia sat down on her own bed, patting the spot next to her.

"Come here" she whispered.

Luke didn't need her to repeat. He immediately joined her sister and sat down at her side, making the least noise possible in order not to wake Han up.

"Do you want to talk about your nightmare?" Leia suggested.

Her brother nodded his head with a sort of weak grin. "Only if you will tell me yours later" he replied.

Leia suppressed a giggle and lightly punched him in the shoulder.

In just a couple of seconds she became serious again. "I'm listening" she said.

Luke took a deep breath and passed his flesh hand through his hair.

"It was horrible" he whispered. "This nightmare was different... it was set thirty, maybe even forty years in the future. We were old, but not just in body. I was so... hopeless, and emotionless. I had escaped, leaving you and Han behind and hiding on some kind of desolate island as an isolated monk. I wasn't myself, Leia. And it was because your son - yours and Han's - had joined the Dark Side and I felt guilty. This had driven Han and you apart, and you two had divorced, or at least I think you had. You hardly talked to each other.
Then, your son killed Han. The scene itself was heart breaking, but what made me suffer was you and me. You didn't even cry, and I just sat in the Falcon like the depressing man I was".

The young Jedi buried his face into his hands.

"I didn't even care, do you understand?" he sobbed. "I hated myself. That was... almost worse than seeing myself joining the Dark Side in other nightmares. And I didn't even redeem myself before dying because of some weird overdose of the Force. Everyone died. You died".

Leia nodded her head and squeezed her brother's shoulder reassuringly, as if she wanted to encourage him to go on.

"Also, there was this annoying girl" Luke added. "Her name was Rey, she was the Emperor's granddaughter. She was the most selfish person I can imagine. And everything seemed so easy to her... She didn't make any mistakes, she didn't suffer, she didn't fall... She easily won against the most powerful Force users, including your son and myself, without even one day of training.
I know this might sound a bit selfish, but... I worked so hard and I suffered so much to learn the very little I know about the Force, to be strong enough not to succumb immediately against Vader. Seeing her like that made me feel useless. I don't want this dream to come true".

Leia smiled wisely and took Luke's hand in her own, finally looking at him in the eyes.

"You know, I had exactly the same nightmare" she said.

Luke's eyes widened.

"You what?".

"I had the same dream" Leia repeated patiently.

Luke blinked a couple of times. "Alright, I'm a disaster" he stated. "The same dream, I am here almost crying and you look like the quietest person in the galaxy".

"That's because I'm not trained enough to feel those dreams with the Force as if they were real, and they look just like dreams to me. But there are deeper reasons" she explained.

"Which reasons?" Luke asked eagerly. He hoped Leia would help him... he hoped that nightmare wouldn't turn out to be real.

"Which reasons?! Which reasons?!" a third voice repeated, startling the twins.

Luke and Leia couldn't help but ask themselves how long Han had been awake. Anyhow, the smuggler had a very angry look on his face.

"Which reasons should she have?!" he exclaimed. "Leia and I won't kriffing divorce! If the Emperor died today, he won't come back to life! And kid, you love people, you care about them, about us, you wouldn't be able to hide on an island and forsake everyone! Or to try and kill your own nephew!".

Han stood up and shook his head.

"I wouldn't be able to quit talking to Leia. It's stronger than me, I can't" he said, calming down just a bit. "Also, emotionless and hopeless are the worst adjectives a person could use to describe you, kid. And...".

The smuggler took a deep breath and smirked coolly despite the situation.

"I'm sorry for any son we might have, Leia, but I wouldn't allow him to skewer me like a pork. I think I'd shot him first".

Luke burst in a fit of laughter despite himself, wondering how in the galaxy he had believed that nightmare. Han was right, so right! Nothing could divide him from his two best friends, who just happened to be his sister and her boyfriend. The young Jedi swore to himself, in that moment, that he wouldn't ever leave his family alone.

"Thanks, Han" he said lightly with a tiny smile. "Thanks for what you told about me. It feels... good to be trusted".

Luke stood up and briefly hugged Han, hoping the smuggler wouldn't need any words to sense his thankfulness.

"Think nothing of it, kiddo" Han said. "After all, I always am right. It's just a bunch of mumbo-jumbo".

I think the irony about my not so beloved sequel trilogy is clear (-:
