During the Night

I long ago stopped fearing the dark and embraced it. The monsters weren't the creatures of old folklore that mothers told their children to scare them from going out late at night. No it was the humans who should be most feared, they rape, murder, molest, and steal from one another. It made me sick just to think about the evil of man kind. I kept my pace as I hurriedly walked to the wall surrounding the impregnable castle. I walked along the wall until I was to the back of the entrance way and away from any houses or nosy people.

I took out one of my longer knives and tied myself with some rope and waited for the appointed time. When the moon was at its highest I then began climbing my way up the wall. The working of my muscles was painul but I didn't really mind, my thoughts were elsewhere thinking about when I was first assighned this job. I sat down with Luvieré and a cloaked figure I couldn't tell if the customer was a male or female and they never talked, since Luvieré acted as the go between. They proposed a plan where I was to go undercover and undetected to the castle and bring a basket with me, in the process I would leave it in one of the rooms, sneak my way out amnd then be on my merry way to freedom, It would be simple, except the castle was incrediably tall and there was a large wall surrounding the entire caslte grounds.

But Luvieré explained that there were not very many guards on duty since no one hardly ever goes there. This was on account of the myth that the King was a ruthless man who would eat womens hearts out and was immortal. This all sounded very complicated and very dangerous, if I was caught then that would mean death. But if I wasn't then I would be free and I was very desperate. On account that this was very dangerous and hardly anyone would take the job Luvieré said that I would be payed handosmely. I didn't really care about the money when taking jobs because I've seen what money can do to people. It changes them and warps them to something greedy and sinister.

Luvieré went on to explain the mission, he said that at a certain time in the night the guards on duty switch off and at the top of the wall there would be no one on duty. So here I was in a far off Kingdom climbing a stupid wall to my freedom. I placed one leg over when I reached the top and slipped my way over. I hastily looked back and forth making sure no one saw me scaling the wall. Fortunately the cloaked figure and Luvieré were right, no one was on duty and that left me free to go about my business.

I walked down a coorider and took the basket out and went to down the first set of stairs I found. I took care to make my steps noiseless and stay hidden in the shadows, I shivered fore there was no sign of life anywhere. I was told to just put it in any room I see fit and not be discovered int the process. The walls were covered in portraits of men and women in their regala. Many were of one man with strange white hair, although he seemed around my age. He was painted many times in different clothes and backdrops, in one he appeared as a young man who won a war. He was sitting atop a black horse and in his hands he held a sythe. For some reason the creepy picutre had me feeling nostalgic and I couldn't quite place why.

Suddenly I heard footseps and clatter as two guards rounded my corner, I stepped behind a door and in my haste did not see if anyone was in there. I quickly turned around and scanned the room. My breath caught the room was amazing and huge there were floor to floor book cases and a magnificent fireplace but the room itself did not send me in a stupor. Standing by the fire was a tall man, he had white hair and I quickly recognized him as the mysterious prince from the portraits. He was beautiful and dangerous, I stared at him up and down to get his full appearance. He was much taller than the man at the bar but since I wasn't too close to him I couldn't tell exactly how tall. His hair was white as snow and almost as long as my waist length curls, his eyes though were a startiling shade of blue that bordered on a dark purple; and I noticed he wore dark gloves over his hands which I thought was very odd.
