Part 7

I arrived at the movie theatre at 7:15 P.M.

I waited outside, until I spotted Naruto.

About five minutes later he showed up, he looked quite nervous too. "About time you got here!" I joked, trying to make it less awkward. "Sorry, I got caught up in traffic...," Naruto apologized. "I was just screwing with you," I laughed, but then realized I could have worded that differently.

I cleared my throat as we walked in together. Showing our tickets, we passed through the gate. "Do you want to get any candy, popcorn, or soda pop?" I asked him. "Sure, that'd be great!" He cheered up.

I bought some sour patch kids, a bag of popcorn, and two water bottles for us to share. We walked down to our theatre gate and found a good spot to sit. We set up our food between us and got comfortable.

It was about time for the movie to begin, there were a lot of couples surrounding us. It was very awkward being there with another boy, who I only recently considered my friend.

Half-way through the movie, I was still uncomfortable, but Naruto seemed more relaxed and was enjoying the movie, laughing and pointing out random scenes he enjoyed. When I went to reach for a handful of popcorn, my hand bumped into Naruto's, he looked at me and smiled.

I had a weird feeling about his smile and looking into his eyes frightened me. I quickly spoke, "I need to use the restroom!" I squeezed my way through the various couples sitting with one another. I sat out in the hall, thought to myself, and waited for the film to finish.

"Hey!" Naruto called out at me after the movie ended and everyone stepped out, "Where have you been? You missed the rest of the movie. I thought you said you were just using the restroom?"

I stood up off the ground, "Sorry, I... I felt uncomfortable, so I thought it was best not to go back in...," I told him slightly truthful.

"Oh." He seemed hurt and disappointed. I must've hurt his feelings.

"I'm sorry," I apologized again.

We left the theatre and decided, since it was late, to walk home together for safety precaution. It was around 9:00 P.M. now.

We didn't talk, mostly silence between us. Naruto broke the silence, "You- you missed one of the really funny scenes!" He was talking about the movie.

I nodded my head, barely listening. My mind was spinning with thoughts.

Without thinking twice about it, I grabbed Naruto by the shoulders, pulled him close against me, and hugged him. "Wha-?" Naruto gasped, but then he hugged me back. He began laughing, and I started crying. "Why are you crying?" He asked me.

"I just...," I mumbled into his ear, "... I really like you..." He didn't respond, he just hugged me tighter. Then he started laughing again, "I really like you too."

We were now both laughing at this point.

I laughed, "I'm such a loser."
