After I had landed in New York, I was fiddling with my house keys, and I managed to take a taxi to my house. I just watched as the bustling night lights that made New York what it was. I glanced down at my phone, that I didn't use often I saw over 1,000 text messages from an unknown number. I opened some of them, just to see who it was.

????: Jer.. I need to talk to you..
????: Jeremy, I miss you..
????: Can we talk?..
????: I love you so much, can we please talk??

Who is this number?... Who has been trying to contact me?

Jeremy didn't recognize the number, but something about the sequence of the numbers, made it seem.. familiar, but they never rang a bell. He texted the number back.

J: Um..who Is this?.
??: Oh, I figured you wouldn't recognize my phone number...uh, I'm Miss Pauling?.. Remember?.."

Jeremy's heart raced slightly, as he saw the name. She reached out to him. Miss Pauling.. reached out to him. He was excited as if old emotions were flooding his memory. He quickly texted back as his fingers seemingly never left the screen.

P: "Would you like to meet up later this week?.. You texting back, means you're finally out of the field."
J: "Yeah, I got back a few minutes ago, gonna go head back to the old house.. get some rest, I'll definitely take you up on that offer, how about.. maybe tomorrow?.."
P: "Alright. I'll message you tomorrow for information about that date."

That seemed to be the last time she texted him that day.

Jeremy managed to get a cab to his house, and he walked into the house, fiddling with the keys before managing to slide it into the lock. It was a dusty house, only because he was gone for so long. He sighed as he walked to his room, and he flopped on the bed, as he sighed. "..Ugh.." A small groan came from his mouth as he turned his head to the side, and he saw the digital clock, that faintly read '9:38 PM'.

Exhaustion rolled over his body as he slowly fell into the soft comforts of his bed. While he slept, visions of (Y/N) appeared, seemingly to have missed the snarky yet kind woman.

As morning rolls around, a small series of texts came from Miss Pauling. Jeremy figured that since (Y/N) wasn't in his life, and there was no way to contact her, that he should forget her, maybe start something with Miss Pauling.

P: "Hey, We're stilling doing lunch, at that diner off of Main."
P: "Oh something came up, I'm also bringing someone, sorry if it ruins anything!"

Jeremy read the text, shrugging it off, maybe it was a friend of hers, you know, female stuff.

J: "It's fine, the more the merrier."

(Jeremy's P.O.V)

I sluggishly pulled myself out of bed, realizing it was about 10 in the morning. I pulled some clothes out of my luggage and walked to the shower. Once I was in the shower, the feeling of warm water seemed to make it harder to wake up. Before I got out, I turned the knob to make it cold, which jolted my body awake. I turned the water off, before drying off to get dressed and get ready for the day. I went to brush my teeth, as I made a small pot of coffee. I spat out the toothpaste into the kitchen sink and washed it down the drain. I scrolled through old contacts but never bothered to test them until my coffee was ready. I drank the cup of dark coffee, and finished getting ready, and decided to head out. I grabbed my phone and my keys as well as my wallet and went to the diner.

As Jeremy walked to the diner, his eyes wandered, as he looked around for Miss Pauling. After their eyes met, it was as if no one else was in the world.

Miss Pauling smiled at Jeremy, as she motioned for him to come to sit with her, and the other person. Once Jeremy was near the table, she introduced the other person. "Jeremy, this is (Y/N), my sister." She said smiling.

(Y/N) looked up from her phone. "Nice to meet yo-.." Her eyes widened as she saw Jeremy. She couldn't believe her eyes.

"Jeremy?.."
"(Y/N)?.."

"What the hell are you doing here?!.." The two of them said in unison, as Miss Pauling, looked...well confused.
