~Previously on Out of His League~(Y/N) looked up from her phone. "Nice to meet yo-.." Her eyes widened as she saw Jeremy. She couldn't believe her eyes.
"Jeremy?.."
"(Y/N)?..""What the hell are you doing here?!.." The two of them said in unison, as Miss Pauling, looked... well confused.
~Currently on Out of His League~
"First of all, I was just trying to enjoy a seemingly nice lunch with my sister, before my flight leaves tonight. She said she had a date, but didn't really tell me who it was." (Y/N) explained, as she looked at Jeremy, with eyes of hurt. Third-wheeling a date with her sister, wasn't the issue, it was more of an issue that the date that (Y/N) was third-wheeling was a date that her sister was having with the same guy she had an extremely big crush on. One whom she had known for only a short time, but clearly got a good grasp on her heart strings.
"I-.. I didn't know that Miss Pauling-." Jeremy started before the woman in question was referred.
"Francine-.. No need to continue to call me Miss Pauling, since the Blu surrendered." The older-woman had explained.
Jeremy stood astounded. This entire time that he had been wanting to take Miss Pauling on a date, he never once asked her what her first name was. He, then probably figured it was to keep things on a professional standpoint, and not wanting to intermingle personal-professional relationships. "Ahem-.. well I didn't know that Francine was-.. your sister." He explained as he looked back towards (Y/N). "If I had some-kind of speculation, I would've-.." A soft subtle voice had interrupted him.
"I think you two have a lot to catch up on." (Y/N) had stated, as she stood up from the 4-seated table. Seeing how happy her sister was, on the way to the diner, how she was explaining him. It made sense how they fell for each other. It was a lot of hurt, but she figured that she'll get over it. It was a short fling anyway, it wasn't like there was any real feelings. Or, was there. Once she stood up from the table, she pushed her chair in, before making her leave out of the establishment. She could feel piercing blue eyes on her body as she exited, and there was no other way she could explain how she felt.
Her sister had him first.
Jeremy watched as (Y/N) exited the diner. He couldn't take his eyes off of her. "..so that's your sister, Francine?.." He asked curiously. A soft giggle left her lips, as she nodded softly. "Yeah, We have different mothers. Her mother had passed away a bit early. I think she was maybe five or six when she arrived to come live with me and my father when I was eight years old. We've been close ever since. She was hurt when she found out I had joined the Administration. Though, I was unaware that she had joined Red. We usually get files for everyone that joins, kind of like an application. Though with hers, it was more of just an alias, and some picture of her, that I couldn't recognize." Francine explained. "I'm glad that her first battle was her last though. I don't know what I would've done if I lost my little sister on the frontlines." A sad solemn look on her face as she sighed, while rubbing her temple. "Maybe now, she can find a better paying job, or a hobby of some sort. Or maybe a guy will finally sweep her off of her feet, and take care of her, because god knows, she probably won't." A soft giggle left her lips, as she shook her head.
The entire time that Jeremy had listened to Francine, he had wondered how she was feeling. Finding out the guy that she had a huge crush on, was on a date with her sister. Jeremy had a worried look on his face. No smile, could hide the concern for the other female's feelings. Francine was oblivious to the concern on his face, as she reached across the table to hold onto his hands. "Now that we're not active duty any more.. We can finally pursue that relationship that you'd always talk about having with me." She said smiling. That smile was the one that he had first fallen for. The one that he hard originally loved. Maybe it was the way she told him orders over the microphone, or maybe it was the way she handed him files. He finally confirmed that it was her mysteriousness that made him fall for her. The feelings that he has are very confusing to him. This was what he wanted, from the very start. To have a relationship with Miss Pauling, or Francine. That was long before (Y/N) had showed up. They connected over art, sports, they talked about the things they loved. All on that date they went on before, it was one of the best moments that he had while active. Francine couldn't give him the genuine happiness that he felt while he was with (Y/N). Jeremy slowly pulled his hands from Francine's, and he had a sad smile on his face. "Francine-.. Miss Pauling. I'm.. really sorry about all this. If I had known that (Y/N) was your sister, I would've declined-.." He explained. The male leaned back against the chair and he let out a deep sigh. "I know I had made it clear that I wanted to be with you, and have this spectacular relationship with you and all, but..-" He tried to find the words, but he couldn't seem to get them together.
"You fell for her." Francine said as she sat back with a soft, yet sad smile. "I had a small feeling, when she was telling me about someone she met in the field." The woman explained and fiddled with the stirrer located within her coffee. "It's not hard to connect the dots when she's saying 'He loves baseball, and his main weapon is a bat'." She finished and let out a soft chuckle. "I want you to know that I'm not upset. Actually, I'm so happy, that you've managed to move past this crush that you have on me. As much as I wish that we could've been more, I understand completely. She has a hold on you, I can tell. Go on." She said as her eyes motioned towards the door. "..She couldn't have gone very far." Francine said as she took a sip of the coffee that steamed a bit. "When she left, I saw her go that way" She said pointing her pinky finger in the direction that the girl ran off in.
Jeremy sat there in disbelief. "You're.. amazing. I really do hope you find someone as well, Francine!" He said in a hurry as he got up to run after (Y/N). He left in such a hurry, he almost forgot which direction he was supposed to be going in. He turned his head back and forth, in a quick motion before quickly remembering and running down the sidewalk. He wasn't going to allow her to get away. Not again. This felt almost like a second chance. He was determined to make (Y/N) his. Or he was going to at least attempt.
"Where the hell is she-.." Jeremy mumbled to himself as his blue eyes darted all around to look for her figure. "U-Um excuse me!" He stopped by a flower stand, and he saw the clerk. "Have you seen a female, about.. this tall-.." The male said as he held his hand up to show the exact height. "Um.. She had (h/c) hair, and(e/c) eyes. Oh her hair was pulled into a ponytail?.." Jeremy was describing her, as he saw her in the distance. He saw her over the man's shoulder. "N-never-mind , thank you!" He said in a hurry before running across the street.
(Jeremy's P.O.V)
Holding my hand up to show how tall (Y/N) was, and describing her to some flower stand clerk had to be the most stupidest decision I had to have done, but I was desperate. I needed to find her. I couldn't risk losing her again. I was explaining how she looked, but then I saw her. Across the street, walking into the park. "(Y/N)!" I realized it was her, and I said my thanks to the clerk before booking it across the street. "(Y/N)!!" That was all I really remember before everything turned black.
SCREEEEEEEECHEverything is throbbing. Everything hurts. What the hell happened..?..
(3rd Person P.O.V)
"(Y/N)!!"
The (H/c)-nette was walking into the nearby park, before she heard her name, and she turned to see Jeremy running across the street. He looked happy to see her. She was confused as to why he chased after her, when he was on a date with her sister.
"Jeremy what are you-.." Her eyes widened as she saw a black truck driving, and her eyes widened. "Jeremy!!" Her heart stopped as she heard the tires screeching and the sound of impact rang through her ears. She flinched as she could see his body just laying on the street. (Y/N) ran over in a hurry and she fell to her knees beside her body. Her fingers went straight to his neck to check a pulse. "Someone call an ambulance!" She yelled out as she held her head close to his neck, and holding his head in place. There was bleeding coming from his head, and her hand pressed on his torso. "..You're gonna be okay- You'll be okay Jer.." She mumbled as she rocked slightly as she held onto him.
It was maybe 5 minutes since the accident happened, and she heard sirens turning the corner. "S-see.. t-they're here now" She mumbled as she held an unconscious Jeremy in her arms. As the medical team came in, and put him on a stretcher, to take him to the hospital, one of the paramedics asked (Y/N) if she would like to ride in the ambulance. The girl looked into the back of the ambulance, and she shook her head, no. "B-but.. what hospital are you taking him to?.." She asked curiously, with a saddened look on her face. "The hospital on the corner of 67th." The professional told (Y/n). "T-Thank you!" She said as she nodded.
(Y/N) watched as the ambulance doors closed, and drove off. She kept a close eye, just till they turned the corner, before returning to the diner, to get her sister. "We gotta go to the hospital! Jeremy just got hit by a truck!" She explained as she dragged her sister out of the diner.
Francine nodded and they hurried back towards the car that they arrived in, and they made their way to the hospital that Jeremy was being transported to. The older woman looked at her sister in the passenger seat, and she placed a hand on the girl's shoulder.
"We'll get there, and you know what.. He'll be awake waiting for you." She said with a small smile. "He'll push through. I know it."
"Yeah-.. you're right." (Y/N) nodded quietly. The rest of the ride to the hospital, (Y/N) was silent. Once they arrived at the hospital, she went to the lady behind the desk. "U-um.. I'm here for Jeremy [REDACTED]." She said.
The lady looked back down, and typed in the name, and she looked up with a small smile. "Room 308." She said, and then the two women walked through the doors, to find their way to room 308. The elevator ride was silent, Francine knew that her sister was way more hurt than she was, emotionally that was. She knew she did the right thing, letting him go, and letting him be with (Y/N) instead.
Before they knew it, they were standing in front of Room 308. (Y/N) knocked on the door, and her hand gripped the handle, before she opened the door.
"J-Jeremy?.."
