RAINE

This is my first day in the orphanage, well...in daylight. In my room, I don't have any roommates, that's great. I was headed to the dining hall when a man stopped me from my tracks. "Miss Raine, you are to go to the office first,"
I put on a embarrassed face, "Oh! I'm sorry I couldn't remember being told that." I answered in a lady-ish tone. He accepted my response for he thinks the experience last night scared me and that I couldn't think straight. Then, I just realized I had no idea where the dining hall might be.

I arrived at the office with the help of the man, he told me that he, "the man" was the original owner of the manor when it was still his home. We went inside office, there was a woman sitting in a sturdy wood table even though the chair was right beside her. I stayed silent while she kept staring at the window humming a tune. That tune was similar to the tune of the nursery rhyme 'twinkle twinkle little star'. Well, she is living with children, maybe she sang it to them and got used to it.

She turned around and looked at both of us. She grinned, it wasn't a friendly grin, it was so sinister and it was like she got what she wanted. It made me shiver and sweat cold. I turned to see "the man", he had horns and a tail like a...DEMON'S!!

I now was scared, I don't know how to deal with them nor fight them. I moved backwards from the man, I peer back at the woman at the edge of my eye. She too has horns! Not just that, she a demonic version of a trident! I tried to swallow up my fear,

I can't...

I walked to the side still trembling.
"I knew there was something about you.." said the woman with a deep voice. "At this moment most people even mature ones could've been screaming, running...even begging!" She got out a laugh like she was insulting humans, which she was. Now that I have thought of it, I haven't done anything she said not only at this moment, yet to my own parents' death. Unlike many, I'm not really fond of others knowing a lot about me. It...makes me feel insecure of what they think about it.

"Do you want us to adopt you miss Raine?" The man says, that question cuts my thoughts off me.

"W-w-what?" My voice trembles, I asked even though I knew I heard the question correctly the first time.

For the second time he said, "Do you want us to adopt you Miss Raine?" I can't help but be puzzled that he said that in a calm tone.

"NO! OF COURSE NOT ARE YOU CRAZY?!!" I was freaking out,
'what kind of question was that?'

"That's much better," the woman paused, "and don't worry, we already have a family for you." she then said. "They're going to get you later." She added.

After that scenario, the man led me to the cafeteria to eat breakfast, leaving the woman. Their cafeteria looked really formal, I took a peek at the other children. And not only the place was nice so we're the items and the way how the adults run it. The seats were like picnic benches we had in parks and there was a piece of paper in the front of each row if it. From books I've read orphanages were "Hell-tier" per say. Yet here I am in heaven.

I walked on each one of the benches. The man was followed behind me, allowing me to stroll around. It's hard to believe that there no fuss when a demon us strolling around humans.

Hold on....do these people know?

Acting confident, which I, at the moment, am not, started inspecting at the first row, there were two columns each. The paper wrote '5 years old only' these papers were reminders on who must sit where. Before I could notice it, the five-year-old's were looking at me astonished. Then I felt a tug on my sleeve, "I believe you are new here, it's noticeable you are not a five year old." I turned to see who it was, I was ready to be amazed on the thought it was a five-year-old. Though it was not, it was a kid that seems to be either nine or ten years old. I couldn't clearly determine if it was a boy or a girl, his voice wasn't too high nor too low and it had a little accent which I couldn't identify. His height was only centimeters above mine. So I didn't say anything. "Mr. Mcalastair, why are you bringing her here? The nine-year-old's are a long way to go."

"Sorry Erin, I just let her wander around. She's a very curious girl and she is going to leave soon, so I will give her the chance to walk around the mansion." It think Erin doesn't trust this man named Mr. Mcalastair by how they speaks to him, do they already know his demonic acts or it's another reason?

"Oh! I almost forgot!" The young fellow suddenly announced. He turned to me and said "I'm Erin Newton, I lived already three years in these walls. Nice to meet you." Sounding quite friendlier than before.

They stretched their arm in front of me for a hand shake, we shook hands while they maintained a smirk and I still stood there emotionless. I knew it was awkward in the situation he was in so smiled for a split second. After that we said our goodbyes he told me to go meet him where I should be-at the benches for the nine-year-old's.

"I'll see you later, I will ask your name at that time. Take your time wondering around this place, I've been here for ages, yet I'm certain that I haven't seen every room here...bye!" He jogged towards the counter to get food from the handlers. Me and Mr. Mcalastair were climbing down the stairs to where the cafeteria was to eat breakfast when...

"Mildred Elliot Mcalastair" the man said

I turned behind me to see the man before turn younger, he transformed. He appeared like a 17 year old, his face, height, and body structure completely changed.
