The baby project

Riverdale High's funding had never been too high; being in a small town meant small budgets and small funds. Though after a recent fundraiser that had taken place, the school had enough money to replace all of the broken science equipment, and start a whole new assignment for the seniors: The Baby Project.

Jughead Jones had only been at the school for a year after South Side High closed its doors. He didn't know many people, but people knew him. He was the bad-boy Serpent king who didn't ever want to be messed with. Flip the scales and you get Betty Cooper - good girl sweetheart who had grown up on the North Side.

When the two, who seemingly have nothing alike, get paired for the baby project - it turns out they have a bit more of a fondness towards each other than they'd originally thought.

On Jughead's turn to have the mechanical baby for the night, it just won't stop crying. He's done everything he can to try and get it to stop but it just keeps carrying on. As a last resort, as he's about to throw it against the wall if it carries on and risk his grade for the project, he calls Betty and has her come to help him in the middle of the night. When the baby stopped crying Betty and Jughead get talking, and after a genuinely good night they accidentally fall asleep together on the sofa, and both of them wake up with feelings for each other they didn't realise they had.
