Everybody is born seeing in only black and white. The first seventeen years of your life it is impossible to see colour, though after your seventeenth birthday, when you lock eyes with your soulmate, you're able to see colour. Some people are lucky enough to find their soulmate and see colour on their birthdays, others can spend years looking for theirs, and a few people never get to see rich reds or deep blues.
Betty had been excited to see colours since the day she learned they existed. She'd dreamed of who her soulmate might be, super excited to meet whoever they were. After her sixteenth birthday, she'd grown a crush on her best friend Jughead, though his birthday had been and gone, and he didn't mention anything to her, so she reluctantly let go of that dream. Though when her seventeenth birthday rolls around, that dream might not be as far off as she thought, as Jughead had kept his soulmate a secret so she could find out herself. They were soulmates.
