Own Good

DINNER was quite peaceful. Abuelo talked to us casually as if it was normal and he has done it since then.

Abuela kept placing food on my plate. While Adamian glared at me the whole evening. When dessert came things went a little out of hand.

"Heto," abuela scoop a bit from the large bowl and transferred it to the smaller one.

"Gracias Abuel-" Adamian was about to grab it from her hand ng nilapit iyon saakin ni Abuela. Adamian was caught off guard.

I heard Abuelo's and Gael's faint chuckle.

"Try this mi nieta, its one of the family's favorite, strawberry parfait."

"Thank you." I accepted the bowl from her hands and was about to try it out when Adamian entered the conversation.

"That's my favorite to Abuela." He pouted and handed out another bowl. Probably expecting Abuela to scoop him some. But Abuela was busy looking at me savour the dessert. So she didn't even glanced at him and said.

"No one's stopping you from eating it Adamian. What do you think mi nieta? Is it good?"

"Abuela!" This made my grandfather and Gael burst out laughing.

Naiinis na hinarap ni Abuela si Adamian. "What is it Adamian?"

"What was his problem Franchess?" Naguguluhang tanong ni Abuela. Abuelo just shrugged and scooped a handful of strawberry parfait.

"By the way, Gabriela." Si Gael.

"What?"

"Dadating yung horseback riding coach mo to teach you about the basics." He said then sipped from his glass of water. I furrowed my eyebrows.

"Huh? Why don't you just teach me instead?" Tanong ko. Gael choked on his water.

Abuelo placed his bowl down and smirked at my coughing cousin before turning to me.

"Gael isn't really good in horseback riding or anything related to driving."

"Uh- A-abuelo!" Gael protested but it fell on deaf ears.

"He can't even tame a horse or went near one. You can't expect him to ride it right?" Abuelo chuckled. I saw Gael's face heating up from embarrassment.

"He's good in almost everything especially in the kitchen. But he can't race. It's quite surprising that he can drive his own car." The chilling voice was coming from the door kaya nabaling ang atensyon ko doon.

There I saw Gael's twin. Kandrick Emilio smirking evilly. He had this intimidating aura that I can't put my finger on. His very different from Gael's welcoming aura.

"Good evening Abuelo, Abuela, Gabriela." Even in the way he says my name brings shivers down my spine. There and there I knew he has a border that I can never cross even if I want to.

I turned to Gael who was feeling better now that he wasn't coughing.

"The teacher is from San Ilaya, I don't think you know her dahil kalilipat lang nila. Galing sila dito but their father decided to settle down in his hometown." Kael informed me, he was now sitting in Adamian's chair.
