Chapter 7

At the Jones' house, things start to get a little weird as the week goes on. You eat your lunches with your friends from music class and spend all your frees at school in the library working on your English or history homework, and after school you meet up with Adam and his siblings and get a lift home. At their place, you know that they're trying to include you but its obvious to everyone you're the outsider – missing out on all the inside jokes, and constantly tripping over yourself trying to keep up with their daily routine.

The little rest that you get, save for sleeping, is when sm6band rehearses and you get to sit back and listen. Listen is used loosely here – you're still not sure if their music is actually any good – but you don't want to hurt Adam or George's feelings, and you know that 4 likes - no, used to like – them, so much so that he took you to their concert.

Just thinking of that day makes you sad, and your mind wanders to 4 and the numberjacks. You feel back for stumps One, but you can't seem to shake the feeling that there was something off about him and his stumpy body.

But it's night-time now, and you need to sleep – your eyelids are heavy and you pull the covers over you and roll over, ready to fall asleep. A voice in the darkness startles you and you sit upright, furiously rubbing your sore leg from when it was broken.

'Hey, come with me'

You blindly pull on some shoes and follow – Adam? – down the corridor.

'Where are we going? Should I get a jacket??'

'No. just follow me, and quickly'

The voice doesn't sound a lot like Adam, but you chalk it up to the fact that you're half asleep and your leg hurts.

The person turns around.

'Jack? What's going on???'

'I don't trust my brothers. I don't know what they're up to! I just want to help.'

'Help? You want to hekp? You're so young what can you do?'

'Please y/n, I need to help you! You want to know what I can do to help? I did this!'

With aflourish Jack flings open the basement door and you see George tied to a chair, his eyes closed.

'Did you do this?' looking at jack you don't know what to think

'Ha yeah and thiS'

You turn around and where the basement door had been you now see Adam, up against a metal fence/door thing, tied to the metal bars with a lasso like noose. [ok, think a bit like 2004 poto when Raoul is tied up by erik].

You scream and all of a sudden your world is filled with light.

'What ws that what the kech'

You kicj off the sweat covered banket on the bed and try to get your bearings, but theres a big bump on your head noae and youd ont know where its from.

Jakcs at the end of your bed. 'sorry I think you were hacing a nightmare' he says while trying to stuff  abig candlestick behind his back. You pull your Samsung galaxy j1 mini off the wall where you stuck it up earlier and pray that it didn run out of battery – you had put it there in order to serve as like a surveillance camera thing in case something happened. It turns on and you stop the video but then the phone dies.

'Darn!!!! I have no cable jack do you have any spares?'

'ill check – anything for you y/n don't you worry'

He stumbles off towards the doorway and you get up and get dressed. Its time for another long day of school and tbh youre not feeling it today. Too much has been happening and to make things worse you SWEAR u saw 4 at the corner past the school last week. But hes dead? Have you been seeing thinsg? Sure hopw not – that's too much to deal with after this ghastly dream, nightmare oerhaps. Whatever, you don't have time for this!!!

Running late again, you pile into georges firetruck and head off to school. Today you have choir fist up and you know the importance ofa good seat – nobody wants to sit up front with the Rachel berrys.

Adam pulls you aside before you go into the choir room.

'There's something important I need to do before you go in y/n'

'what?? i'm gonna be late smh so what's up?'

Adam does the

Adam leans in and kisses you and you accidentally nearly fall over because your leg hurts still.

'oh okay'

'yeah alright have fun at choir i'll see you after school yeah?'

You stand there as he walks off and when he turns back to grin at you you do the debby ryan thing

'Why did you debby ryan' you curse yourself as you walk into choir
