Chapter 6

Cara's POV

I hope they eat me alive.I dont want to feel any pain.... Will my parents miss me, will they feel bad for neglecting me. WAIT... why are they taking so long to eat me.I slowly open my eyes only to see the dogs sitting beside Holt, wagging their tails .." is that a grin on their face" i must be going mad.

I look up at holt's face to see that he is mad, more like furious.
"Cara, Cara" , I look back to see Tessa running towards me..
" are you ok, what are you looking at Holt, hold the dogs back can't you see she is terrified of them."
" it ok Tess, I'm fine, I'm ok now", " no your not, come on let's go. A nice cup of coffee will do you Good and I'll ask mom to look at those cuts,"
We start toward the house, but Tessa turns back to see Holt standing there staring into space,
" Holt" Tess calls. No response from him. " HOLT" she screams and he come out of his trance like state.
" holt, just see to that the dogs are kept away from her. She is terrified of them". He just nod and turns back to go towards the barn with the stupid dogs following him faithfully.

Holts POV
This is the last bundle for the day. Stacking hay is a very difficult job, but this keeps me from thinking about a certain brown eyed beauty. " why the hell am I thinking about her,Damn it".
"I need coffee if I have to stay away from the homestead for the whole day".
As I go out of the barn towards the homestead, I see someone running towards me as if the Devils behind them.
Taking a closer look at the person , it's Cara
" what the hell, who is she running like this from "
Looking behind her I see our two dogs chasing her with their tongues rolling out. Is she seriously running away from them. They are the most friendliest dogs I t he whole world. They'd make friends even with the burglar.
When she come and hugs me to get away from the dogs I freeze.
" my god she is beautiful", what the sell am I thinking, this is my sisters friend, but I've never felt like this before , ever with Jasmine. With her it was just attraction and mutual understanding, and after she betrayed me and left me I've not felt anything towards any women, mostly keeping away from them.
But Cara, "Cara", what a beautiful name fit for her.
" what the hell am I thinking again "
I come out of my internal battle to see that she is till running around me to get away front the dogs he hands still on me.
I shove her making her fall on her rear and whistle for the dogs to stop. They dutifully come and sit near my ankle like they alway do.
I look at Her face, to see that it deathly pale and tears brimming in her eyes also I see extreme fear.
Looking at her face full of fear is like a punch to the gut. And I'm too stunned to move.
I just want to pick her up , hug her to my chest and kiss those beautiful full lips and tell her that I'm there to take care of her. And that every thing is going to be ok.
I hear Tessa calling my name. And look and her furious face. I look next to her to Cara still looks very pale. Looking at both of them once more I just turn and go back toward the barn not wanting to go back to the house.

Cara's POV
As we enter the house we hear Sara ask "WHAT happened, Cara are you all right ",
"Mom she just fell while running away from the dogs." , " oh my, come on in dear, just have a seat , let me get you something hot to drink, GEORGE, pls get the first aid kit immediately.",
George enters with the kit and looks at me" What is going on here" , he comes rushing to me , takes my elbow. I look down to see that it's bleeding." Oh god"
" what happened Cara"
" nothing big George, I was running away from the dogs and I fell, I didn't realise my elbow was bleeding till now."
" here let me clean you up" he take a wet clothe and slowly starts to clean off the blood. I start talking with Tessa to dive myself from the pain. I dint feel anything till I saw the blood. Now it hurts life a bitch.
" this is going to sting a lot Tessa, just hold on" once the steriliser touches the wound it burns like hell " OH SHIT, take it off George, just take it of",
"just a sec, it's over",
" NO" before I could scream some more he takes it off and patches it up with cotton.
" thanks George"
" here drink this hot chocolate" Sara hand me a big cut of steaming hot chocolate. I take a sip and this is the best hot chocolate I've ever tasted. Me and Tessa always make them in our dorm and it always tastes like saw dust.
" this is very tasty Sara, I've never tasted anything like this. You have to teach me and Tessa too."
Sara just laughs at my happy face and agrees.
She looks at Tessa, " tess, I want you to go into town and get all the items in the list that I gave you",
" ok mom, do you want the meat as well, it's not there in the list"
" no dear, we have stock of that, and the boys will have something else today.im keeping that time. The cookout"
"Ok, I'm out of here" and she turns to leave.
I hold her wrist,"can I come with you"
George just looks take and says in a firm voice" Cara I want you to take rest, you are still shaking . Just take a nap and you can go into town tomorrow", " but I'm fine George, look...." I stand up quickly only to wobble on my feel and start to slide down.
George catcher my my my waist and holds me up, "that's it, you are going to bed and that's final". I keep quite not wanting to say anything.
" Cara just take rest, I'll come up to your room once I return with your favourite" , I look at tess with a big smile and she just turns and leaves laughing to herself.
George turns to me and asks " why don't I carry you to your room, you can rest till lunch , I will come and wake you in time to eat".
This is so embarrassing but I just look at him " hmmmm, if it's.., I means if it's not a problem for you, I'd like that"
" oh not a problem at all dear, he always carries Tessa to her room even now if she falls asleep on the couch" says Sara .
" yes, so don't worry, you r like my daughter too, you r family'.
I just look at him stunned. Family.... did he just include me as a member of his family. I keep looking at. Him as he carries me bridal style up the stairs to my room.
This is the first time someone has included my in the same sentence with the word family. Not even my own has said this.
These people just accepted me in to their family after knowing me for 2 days. What do they know about me, but still....
I've never had people to fuss about me and take care of me if I get hurt. I have to pick myself up, clean my wounds or if it was serious take my self to the hospital and inform my dads PA? Who will pay the bills. This is how it's been so far.
But now,  having people care about me , take care of me.. All this make me feel warm in my heart. I just wish I always have people like this to care abt me.
I come out of my thoughts as George lays me down on the bed and pull the comforter till my chin tucking me in. He leans down and kiss my forehead. " have a nap dear" , Sara does the same and they go out slowly closing the door.
This Little gesture brings tears to my eyes.. As the saying goes there is always a first time for every thing, and today was the first for many thing in my life.
I will cherish this moment forever.
With these thoughts I close my eyes and the shock comes back and lulls me into a deep sleep.
