I give all of you a piece of huge virtual Dauntless cake....
*yaass Divergent reference :D
Anyways happy reading!!!The deeper I get into the dark tunnel, the farther away I am from my fathers cries. Away from my Mum. Away from Perrie.
Luckily, I get light from my cellphone stashed in my jean pocket but it seems like it's almost dying.
I want to run back to my family but my Dad's instructions stick like glue to my head. Running back now would be like handing Pete the Mars509 on a silver platter.
'Shane you can do this,' I say out loud.
'Get the Mars509 safely to MountainRock and all this will be over.'
The Mars509.
I search my pockets and take out the chemical that started this mess.
This tube of green swirling liquid was what Pete wanted so bad, he killed Rob just to get his hands on it.
I cringe at the thought of what Pete would do upon discovering the Mars509 was in the hands of an eighteen year old boy.
I place it back in my jean pocket, pushing away the thought of Pete roasting me alive.
The light my cellphone gives off is getting dimmer and the tunnel seems to stretch out in miles. My throat is dry, my eyes red from tears and my feet exhausted but nothing will stop me from completing my fathers mission.
Now mine to accomplish.
It is just afew more steps later that my cellphone dies. Luckily, it seems that I have just found the end of the tunnel.
A small wooden door just like the one I'd entered is here before me.
I run my fingers over the rotting wood, to try and feel for a knob.
As soon as my hand lands on it, I breathe a sigh of relief.
I definitely don't want to be stranded in a stinky, dark tunnel.
Rays of light flood my vision as I push open the door.
Grass. Everywhere.
As I try to make out the rest of my surroundings, a large thud makes everything pitch black.
***************
A ceiling fan.
The first thing I see when I wake up.
Yikes, my head hurts.
I rise from the couch I'm lying on and look around.
It seems like I'm in an old shack. Piles of boxes sit in every corner coated with dust.
Gardening tools, rope and a black box are sprawled on the bare, wooden floor.
Click click click.
I stand and move toward the door making sure I don't make any loud noises that might startle whoever put me here.
Click click click.
It gets louder as I press my ear toward the door.
Click click.....
The door suddenly swings open making me fly back stunned.
A tall, dark haired girl's annoyed face greets me.
''What were you doing?!' she exclaims.
''Well.. How can you ask me that when YOU put me here?' I reply emphasizing the 'you'.
Her face goes calmer and she adds a small grin.
''I'm sorry. When I saw you, I freaked okay? I mean, you don't expect to see some dude come out of this door you've never seen before in your backyard.''
''What did you do to me? Why am I here? And first of all, who are you?!''
I ask suddenly angry.
''Okay, okay. I'm Marlee. I brought you here because I didn't want my Aunt Rosa to see you. Especially after I hit your head with a frying pan.' She replies, covering her face with her hands.
'' You what?!''
''I'm sorry! It was an accident.I really didn't mean to do it.''
''A frying pan? What have you been watching? Tangled?''
Her loud laugh startles me.
''You watch Tangled?'' she asks in fits of giggles.
''No, my sister does.'' I reply very annoyed. '' Anyways, you have to get me out of here... now!''
''Don't worry.'' She pauses and looks at me confused. '' I didn't quite get your name. ''
I cannot believe this girl. After all she did to me.
''Why would I want to give my name to some crazy girl who hit me with a frying pan and locked me up in a dirty old shack? '' I say.
''Fine, don't tell me. I don't even care,' 'She replies.
Marlee turns around and walks toward the door.
Click click click.
I gaze down to see what's making the clicking noises and notice thats she's wearing black pumps.
''Pumps? Really?''
''Yeah. You got a problem? '' she replies without looking back.
'' They make annoying clicking sounds when you walk. Don't you prefer sneakers? ''
Marlee doesn't answer. She opens the door revealing a very untidy backyard. Nothing like the one I saw when I came out of the tunnel.
''You're free to go. Just go out that white gate in the front there. '' She says with a fake smile.''I'll see you around?'' she adds.
''I hope not.'' I reply and walk out the door.
I jog through the variety of untamed species in the backyard and close the gate behind me without a glance at Marlee. Five minutes later, I'm on Indies street, 10 minutes away from home.
''Okay Shane. Find some way to get to MountainRock and deliver the Mars509, '' I say to myself.
I shove my hand into my jean pocket and I'm left stunned to find that the Mars509 is gone.
