 P.O.V-Paige

I sat on the edge of the mattress just thinking. I just stared at the floor. I had already unpacked all my clothes into the closet already.

A reform school. How could my parents not of told me? Its not really one of those things that you just forget. Come on, your only child goes to a reform school and it just slips your mind? Um I don't think so. If it was my child I'd probably run from the country. No ones taking my baby.

Why wouldn't they tell me? Why didn't they say goodbye? They didn't even give me a hug. Tears threatened to spill down my face. Do they not care about me?

A knock at my door made my thoughts disappear. My head shot up.

A girl was leaning against the frame. She had shoulder length blonde hair with red streaked bangs and even from how far I was sitting from her you could see how bright her blue eyes were.

"So your the new student?" I nodded. What if she was murderer? What if she came here because she didn't want anyone new in the school? She came to finish me off?

She laughed and walked towards me. When she was in front of me she bent down. "Chill out. I'm not a serial killer." A breath I didn't know I was holding came out. She laughed. "Its normal for you to be this way. Every new comer acts like this. Well except for the really crazy people. You should watch out for them."

I felt a lot calmer than before. Okay so some people here were normal. Well at least one of them seemed to be.

She held out her hand. "I'm Amelia. You?"

I didn't think people shook hands anymore so I flinched when she extended her hand. Which she laughed at.

I gripped her hand lightly. "Paige."

She took her hand back. "So you speak. Usually people don't start talking for a few weeks." Amelia stood up straight. "From shock ya know.''

I looked back down at the floor. Amelia plopped down next to me. She nudged my shoulder. "Hey lighten up. Its not all that bad once you get used to the food."

I gave a short laugh. School food was the same everywhere. Seriously shitty.

Me and Amelia talked for a while on my mattress. She seemed pretty cool actually. She filled me in on some of the rules and some names of the teachers that were boring, which happened to be about all of them. Me and her had almost nothing in common but she knew how to make me laugh. I felt so much better than before, like a heavy weight lifted off my shoulders. At least I made a friend. Maybe I would survive in this school.

We were laughing at a joke she made when I had to ask her. "Why are you being nice to me? I thought this school would have so many," I waved my hand through the air.

"Crazy people." She finished.

I really hope that didn't offended her. She was the only person I knew in this whole school. Well really the only person I've seen and actually had a civilized conversation with.

I guess she saw my panic and smiled softly. "Its fine. We get that a lot here. We do have quite a bit of crazy people though.'' She shifted. "But honestly we don't really get to many girl students and when I found out you were coming I had to meet you before others poisoned your mind."

That kind of caught me off guard. "Poison my mind?"

She nodded. "A lot of people here like to, I guess you could call, prank new-comers. Some people turn insane from what they do."

I felt a drop of cold sweat trail down my back. Insane? If this school isn't insane enough I don't know what is. How could you beat a school full of murderers.
