My week pretty much just went like a breeze, I had volleyball practices, I meet up with Colin and Connor sometimes but mostly I was alone. Colin noticed this and approached me.
"You okay, Liya? You seem pretty down."
I was reading my notes on General Biology in front of me locker when Colin came up to me during lunch.
"I'm fine." I said.
He didn't look convinced. "Come on. We swore to no secrets, what's up?"
I sighed. "Nothing, Colin. I miss Lila is all."
I continued reading until he grabbed my book. He placed it behind his back and smiled at me, taunting.
"Colin!" I yelled.
He kept the book up high, and considering he was roughly 5'9, it wasn't easy. I kept jumping and punching his arm for him to give it to me until he wrapped his arms around me and twirled us around.
"Lighten up. I don't want you sad, it makes you even uglier." Colin laughed.
"Oh shut up, nitwit!"
But I was also laughing. He put me down and gave me back my book.
"I have to settle with the tryouts for the basketball team, think you can't be all pouty while I'm gone?" He said as he ruffled my hair.
I huffed and swatted his arm away, "Yes, now get lost already."
Colin chuckled and gave a kiss on my forehead then ran off to the gym. He seemed more affectionate nowadays and I was loving it. I didn't think I had any romantic feelings for Colin. We were strictly platonic.
I closed my locker and saw Luke leaning on the other side with his eyes trained on me.
I jumped back in surprise, "Luke. Jesus, What are you doing?"
He smiled lightly. "I wanted to ask you where the rooftop was."
I cocked my head to the side. "Why?"
He shrugged, "This school is packed but has small space, I figured the rooftop would be more quieter."
The school was small for a big population, but it had cheap tuition which is why many students go here. We're not exactly that poor, but we weren't mansion-worthy either, so I figured I go to a cheap school to help my parents out.
I stepped to his side and began to walk away from him and I heard him follow.
"That's rude." He muttered beside me. "Are you walking me to the entrance of the rooftop?"
"No. I'm heading to the library."
He quirked a brow, "I'm sorry, did I say something bad?"
"No, not really."
"Then why are you ignoring me?" He asked.
I scoffed. "Why are you following me?"
I made a right turn and he still followed, he ran up in front of me and I stopped.
"I swear, I feel bad. I mean, I might have done something and I just wanna know why you're ignoring me?" He asked almost pleadingly.
The real reason was plain for me. Everytime I have a crush and he is ridiculously out of my league, I ignore them to a whole new extent. I didn't want to be one of their fans, I'd like a connection yes, but I didn't want to be seen as a fangirl. Luke may not be that famous yet, but I can see from his build if he joins the basketball team, he would steal glances from everyone.
