Harry had never opened up about his anxiety before. He was a private person in the eyes of the public, and for good reason. He had been thrown into stardom at the age of 16, painted to be something he wasn't. He was characterized as a womanizer, a flirt, a playboy - his management pushed him into relationships with women he didn't want to be with, and portrayed him as a symbol of sex to sell more records. And it worked. But it took a toll on him as a person. Now free of his life in One Direction, he wanted to make a life on his own. He did very little press, he rarely used his social media accounts, and he kept his personal life as private as possible. When he began dating you, you were very understanding of all this. You met him shortly after the hiatus was announced, and the last thing he needed on top of that was to announce to the world a new relationship - so for 6 months he kept you a secret.
A couple years went on, and now his fans were well aware of you and the relationship. Despite being with Harry for the past 3 years, and now living together, there were still things he kept from you - his deepest fears and anxieties that he felt he could never share. Harry was open about the fact that he went to therapy for a while, and that he had his fair share of struggles, but he shrugged it off as no big deal - something everyone deals with. You had no idea how deep his anxiety ran.
You had no idea that some days, when you weren't home, Harry had panic attacks alone in your bathroom. You had no idea that Harry hid from you when he felt one coming on, not wanting to put you through what he was experiencing - in fear it would scare you off.
But Harry had no idea that you had experienced panic attacks before yourself, and the thought of him having panic attacks would not deter you from your lover, but would only draw you closer to him as you tried desperately to help him.
It happened on a Saturday. You were going out that night with a few friends for drinks. Harry had seemed a bit off all day, not his usual bright and energetic self. You didn't want to call attention to it, but you coaxed him to open up to you if something was wrong.
He had offered a weak smile, "M'fine, love. Just a bit tired, s'all."
You believed him, and you had no reason not to. You and Harry both had opened up to each other about everything, you thought - you always told each other everything, and you knew his entire life story. Every heartbreak, every good moment, every bad moment. So why would he hide something now?
You went out that night, and told Harry you would probably be back later than usual. You hadn't seen your friends in a while and planned to spend some good time catching up with them.
