Of Fire and Sketchy Outlines

Chapter 9

Welcome

As the week started,everything was back to normal. The usual buzz of the office kept Gulf busy  for the next few days.  

When thursday came, Gulf momentarily forgot about the research offer until Arch. Leo brought it up again. 

"Gulf. Have you decided yet?" Leo asked him once he was settled in his office

"Uhm actually sir. I Haven't. Im sorry. Its just that I have so many things to consider." Gulf said with his eyes down while playing with his fingers

"Oh. Thats okay.I understand. It is a big step. May I know the things your concerned about?Maybe we can find resolution on it" Leo encouraged 

"Uhm..Well…As you may know sir Im a scholar. That means my internship is strictly monitored by the university. I'll have to ask the dean and the university president  first. I cant really say yes if they wont allow me." 

"Hm. Oh. That's easy Gulf. I'll personally write a letter to your university. I'll even ask Engr. Mew to sign it. The Suppasits have a good relationship with Bangkok Uni. Haha. Well? Is that all?" 

"OH. Krub. Thank you sir. Uhmm. May I ask on a possible workhours sir? Im sorry I have to ask sir. I want to know if I can manage work for the resto. If I cant I might talk to my employer for possible resignation" Gulf said with a sad expression. His usual bright bambi eyes has somehow dimmed. 

"Employer?" Leo frowned at him

"Krub. I have a part-time job sir from 7pm to 10pm. If I become a member of the research team I'm afraid that my part time work would be neglected. Ill have to resign so they wont be compromised." 

Leo stared at him unbelievably. He has no idea that Gulf was still working after a long day at the office. His respect for the boy grew even more. 

"... and I just uhh...think that the junior architects are more suitable in this research Sir. I think they can deliver a more substantial output." he hesitantly said 

Leo stared at Gulf silently as he voiced his issues about his capabilites. Apparently the boy does not see his own potential. 

"Gulf. Do you know the motto of SGC?" he suddenly asked

"Krub. Temptaris Numeros Esse." he recited

Attempt the Impossible. 

Leo chuckled.

"No. that is our market group's motto. Im asking about SGC as a whole. The motto of the main company." leo explained calmly 

Aow?There is a different motto? 

"Audentis fortuna iuvat." Leo said firmly 

Fortune favors the brave. 

"There are a lot of architects out there Gulf. All have talents and are dreaming of a good life like you. But you know what? In a world where everyone is talented do you know how you will stand out? You have to make a brave step - grab opportunities Gulf. "

He stared at  Leo.

 A brave step. 

Leo tapped his shoulder.
