"I am tired of living a like that. Do you all think keeping quiet will solve everything? No never. He will not understand. I have my patience. Everyday their tortures beatings made me feel sick. I feel like I am not a human being, I am a toy to them to play with."
Mrinmoyee said crying while her mother, father, grandmother and her two elder brothers listened to her. They felt really bad for her. Her mother already started crying.
She continued, "I want divorce. I can't carry on like that for my whole life. I will die. But I want to live, I am still young. I will earn for my living. I don't want to be a burden for you and them."
"We never saw you as a burden." Her grandmother said.
"Yeah and that's why you married me off at 19 right grandma?" She smiled at her and said sarcastically.
"Mrinmoyee calm down." Her father said.
"How can I?" She almost shouted at her father.
"How can I? Tell me...last night he tried to choke me to death. Here you see the marks. Here...here...see....you can see right?"
She showed black finger marks around her neck. As she was choked not long ago so the marks were fresh.
"And you see at last I have to run away from there again to save my life. Wow. But that's not the point I want you to talk to the lawyers, and if you are not willing then I am going."
"We will support you." One of her elder brother said and the other nodded.
"I know you always supported me. But this time I want this three to support me."
She said as she pointed towards his grandmother, mother and father. Their head was down. She was the only girl in that big house and the youngest one. They thought early marriage will be useful for her, but little did they know that this kinds of things will happen to her. They don't want to see their daughter or granddaughter in pain and distress but they also fear about the society. They fear that what would society think if she become a divorcee.
There were many times when she ran off from her in-law's house to save her life. But everytime she would go back when her husband came to take her. She believed her husband badly. She knew that he will realise his mistake and will bring her to his home and he did it everytime.
Whenever she ran off from his house he would come to fetch her saying that he was sorry for what he have done. And everytime she would believe him and went with him.
But this time she can't tolerate it anymore. She wants to cut ties with him forever.
